    Default Instrument panel gauge bulbs

Finally found some time to look up replacement bulbs for our spec V instrument panels. I had a few burned bulbs that have been bothering me for a long time. Figure I will post the results here for my fellow spec V owners.

Where to get bulbs: www.autolumination.com Tail Light Brake Light Turn Signal LED Bulbs

Instrument panel: we need (6) bulbs, type #24 ==>(2) will light up the gauges, (1) for the trip computer/ odometer display, (2) for directional signals and (1) for high beam indicator.

HVAC panel We need (2) type B tall bulbs and (1) type B (T4) bulb. The 2 type B tall bulbs will light up the temperature, fan and temperature selector switches and the type B(T4) will light up the three push buttons.

They have various color and led bulbs to choose from. I chose incandescent in red because I like the even lighting of incandescent and want to retain 100% of the dimming control. When the bulbs get here I will post pics.

Please note the Pepboys/ Autozone type #24 bulb is a bit bigger and will produce more heat. If you use it at the odometer/ trip computer, the extra heat will cause the LCD to be all scrambled when the heat build up is too much....for me that's 15 minutes after I turn the lights on. At the other locations it was OK, but I would imagine the extra heat may cause the gauge to burn out sooner than necessary.

Go to the page of the #74 bulbs.....1/3 way down you will see the type 24 bulb....it says

"#74 too big, 194 too small #24 is your bulb" or something like that.

just ordered all these bulbs and didn't need a second credit card on my paypal account. not to be a dick to this last guy or anything, it's probably just a change in policy since october of last year...

just wanted to put it out there that i'm going with autolumination because the most popular alternative, superbrightleds.com , sent me license plate and interior bulbs that ended up strobing and freaking out on me (every single bulb but at different times) as well as some cluster bulbs that got too hot and actually burned the red out of the inside of the bulb, returning my dash slowly back to amber-ish.

good thread, thanks for the reference info. damn near artsy photography

question for the OP, if you're still getting notifications a year later...

were the #74's you got from autolumination about the same size as the OEMs? my OEM bulbs look smaller than the ones pictured and the red replacements look somewhat larger, but closer to the ones pictured. there seems to be room for them (they're like 3-4mm taller in the twist lock base) but i worry they will be too big for a reason i can't see in there.

You need #24 not #74...#74 is a mini wedge and is way too small. #24 from autolumination were same size as OEM.

Question to op, or anyone who has replaced center consoles lights. Ie air condition temp fan ect. One what bulbs did you use. Cause the tall ones I ordered so seem to reach quite right and are barely illuminating gauge. Second. I have now replace all three visible bulbs but I am still getting amber light from defrost button and button below that. The a/c button has no light. So is it only three liights or is there another hidden somewhere. I ordered exactly what op said. Two tall and one type b t4
