Thread: switch to reverse ground and power??

so i got a used electric cutout without the wiring assem. and switch...all it has it a ground and power wire and thats it...its easy to make wire from the cuout to the interior...the hard part is is to find a switch that will have power and a ground and then switch them to close and open the cutout...any ideas?

They sell switches like that at any auto parts store.

ima sound likea noob with this but just so i can know for myself how does it work? from the cutout power and ground go to the swtich correct? and then the third prong on the switch is for??.....

Just look at how the switches are internally wired (they come with a wiring diagram, usually on the back of the package). Look for a 3 position switch

You'll want a DPDT switch. it stands for dual pole dual throw. go to radioshack they have a large selection
