    Default Let's talk HID's.

The search button only brought me forum clutter haha. Alright, so I have always ran Sylvania SilverStar Ultra's on my vehicles, I get them for no charge due to my father's work. I'll leave it at that, but now I would like to hop into HID's because everyone is doing it and the looks of them are nice.

I'll be using the stock housing, no projector retrofit stuff.

I know that the SilverStars are a 55w bulb, but I know that HID's have quite a higher discharge than a halogen bulb.

My question is, when running a 35w kit in 6k color temp will they be significantly brighter than the SS Ultra's or should I run a 55w 8k kit (to make up for color loss)? I don't wanna be one of those dipshits blinding everyone on the road and they will be aimed properly at least. In the end I'd like them to be tasteful.

And as per the DDM site for their Raptor kit, do I need to add on the extras specifically the dual in/out harness? I know the others are not necessary (error code piece etc.)
I'm not trying to build a fast car, I'm just trying to make it a little bit better..

You don't need the extra harness, it just makes it more confusing to install. I can't help you out comparison wise, but I run 35 watt 5k from ddm and I love em they are pure white, no blue. So if you want a little blue go with 6k, I personally don't care for anything above that because oncoming cars with anything above 6k hurts my eyes, so I'm not knowingly going to do that to someone else. Good luck whatever you decide.

The 35watt 6k is what I've been running for the last 3 years I love them. They are way brighter than any halogen I've ever used.
You will hate driving without them.
The 55watt ones negate the bulb life warranty since they jack up the output on the regular 35watt ballast. Or it negates the warranty on the ballast you would have to ask them. Also I have to add the new hi/low bulbs they are using are way better than they used to be. Love it.

Wicked, thanks for all of the info guys!
