    Default Ebay CAI

Hey, I'm cheap and I don't think that I should pay extra for a piece of pipe sooooo..... here's my stupid question.....
Are ebay CAI's different for the 1.8 than the 2.5 because there is at least a $20 difference in price. It looks like the throttlebody is located in the same place but when I look for CAI's for the B15's the price lister for the 1.8 is like $30-$40 and the spec is $60-$70. Is it worth paying extra for a piece of pipe.

I have a spec by the way.

I found a used spec short ram on ebay and I use it on my qg, the only difference is the length and the angle of the bends, if im not mistaken

    Ummm...you're mistaken lol.

The only difference between the two intakes is the MAF adapter that comes with it. The QR and QG have different MAFs that attach differently. I used a QR CAI on my QG, only thing you had to do was redrill the MAF adapter to fit.

Edit: What extra piece of pipe are you talking about?? the QR/QG CAI only has 2 pipes - one from the TB to the MAF, and the other from the MAF to the filter.

^^Any CAI name brand or not will suck up water once the filter is fully submerged unless it has a bypass valve. But the majority of people on here dont have a bypass valve, just watch where youre driving and try to avoid driving through lakes and oceans.

Yeah I blew an engine years ago, I had a 93 si with a singe cam, ran through a puddle doin 80 and it sucked up so much water I had two holes the size of golf balls in each side of my piston walls.

It worked out for the best though I got a Japanese single cam d15b and got Insurance Co. to pay the bill less my $500 deductable,

Maybe I should do it with this motor because it drinki much oil anyway. I still dont beleive i got the insurance co to pay.

They may have been full of it, but it said it came off a spec-v...either way your right about the MAF adapter though, I had to re-drill the one that came with it.

To the OP aluminum tubing is aluminum tubing no matter what name they put on it. Get a good filter with what ever brand you get. Also, make sure you have some sort of rubber bushing to keep your MAF from getting vibrated to death.
A Bypass is a good idea if you do live in an area where you have alot of rainfall, or just run an SRI during the wet season.

just remember that a lot of people call any aftermarket air cleaner a "COLD" air intake...short rams and any other one that has the air cleaner in the engine bay (except ones with baffles liek a lot of K&N) are not "COLD air intake. The term COLD means the air filter is located outside the engine bay (normally in fender) and can actually draw in cooler air then the hot air in engine bay.

So that maybe why prices are different when you look and alos the 1.8 and 2.5 are different due to configurations and I have not heard anyone without modifing part to make it work.

I have a 2006 SE-R SpecV and have a Nismo Cold Air intake with bypass valve...best to go with Nismo in my opinion. Not saying its better then other brands...but hell its made by and for Nissan....

It is made for Nissan but it is not made BY Nissan. The Nismo intake is a rebadged AEM intake, hence why it has the AEM bypass valve in it. It's like all the other B15 Nismo parts, they're all just rebadged parts from other companies.

OK....Let me revise my statement. The Nismo intake is not made by Nissan but for Nissan.

IE...antifreeze (coolant) there is only a few (like 3-4 in the country) that manufacturers coolant but everyone sells it in a bottle that has many diff names on them. like Texaco, Peak, All new car dealers, Autozone, PepBoys, etc....they don't make chemicals...they mearly have someone bottle it for them and put their name on it.

What I meant on my original statement is that it is made for and to fit correctly on a Nissan.
