Here is the code: P0464 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Intermittent. The code had to be read from a diagnostic, no SES light showed. My car sputters and refuses to idle when warm.
i have the same code....... but i got an ses light >? imma check it out and let you know i forgot what some of the symptoms can be.......
maybe the fuel sensor/pump is focked...

ok............ it might not be bad it can just be that there isnt enough current going to the ecm and thats why theres a code there are a couple of troubleshooting solutions to try .....
The fuel level sensor is mounted in the fuel level sensor unit.
sensor detects a fuel level in the fuel tank and transmits a
to the ECM.
It consists of two parts, one is mechanical float and the other
is variable resistor. Fuel level sensor output voltage changes
depending on the movement of the fuel mechanical float.
On Board Diagnostic Logic
NIEC0998
ECM receives two signals from the fuel level sensor circuit.
One is fuel level sensor power supply circuit, and the other is fuel
level sensor ground circuit.
This diagnosis indicates the former, to detect open or short circuit
malfunction.
Malfunction is detected when an excessively low or high voltage is
sent from the sensor is sent to ECM.
Possible Cause
NIEC0999
Fuel level sensor circuit
(The fuel level sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
Fuel level sensor
thats most of the info sorry i cant get the diagrams of it the page that i am reading wont let me copy it only the text
OK, so i guess I have to find out how to change the Fuel Level Circuit Sensor.
negative u dont have to figure nothing out ...... its all located in one spot and thats on the fuel pump they are all one assembly
let me know when u wanna do it and since the suspension is now higher i am guessing that u can make it into my garage?
I can probably make it, not sure. However, it has to be taken out vis underneath the back seat if I am not mistaken.Originally Posted by B15NISMO
the fuel pump is under the seat which comes off in like 2 minutes.
Why not just do this in the underground garage? just bring a light. Its warm like hell down there?
Oh yes, I keep on forgetting I have a garage. Dammit, I should go take the car there tonight. The monstar has been home for too long now.Originally Posted by FuLLah
tru so find out what kina tools u gonna need i got the extension cord with 4 optional output and the light stand anything else call me
A hammer and a flat screwdriver would be sufficient I suppose. I have taken off the fuel hatch in a 6th Gen to install a Dr. FuelMax with the same tools.Originally Posted by B15NISMO
ill bring my tool box as well. I think you only need a flat and maybe a few sockets. But the fuel sensor shouldnt be submerged, maybe its on the pump itself??
yea its located on the top of the pump not to sure what side ..........
I am asuming that it's one of those clip in harnesses on the top.Originally Posted by FuLLah
oh yea we need one more thing a volt meter to test the current between the harness.....
