    Default Help w/ electrical stuff

well my original issue was resolved now this is another electrical issue that i've had for quite some time. My front cig lighter port doesn't work. the one next to the ebrake works fine.

how can i find what is the cause? possible connection? or can i splice the wires for the one that doesn't work to the one next to the ebrake?

    thanks

    chris

I don't think that all those things are on one circsuit, hence one fuse.

Check the fuse box behind the coin tray under the steering wheel.

Check #10 fuse behind the coin purse. The doorlocks and rear defogger is controlled by the smart entrance control unit. That fuse powers the "ignition on" signal to the control unit which then powers the defogger/door lock relays. The "ignition on" signal is used so that the unit knows that you put the key in the ignition on position before you can operate any of those.

Also check #12 for the door locks.

Look into a new smart entrance control unit.

I had this same exact problem. There's a fuse in the fuse box under the hood that needs to be replaced. I can't remember what it was called exactly, but I think it was something like Room Lamp. That's the one.

Check the power socket and cig lighter fuses behind the coin tray.

the one that says cig lighter, does that control both?

do you know what the power socket controls?

I'm not sure which is which, but I see no harm in checking both...........

I would guess that the one you're having a problem with is the one labeled cig lighter, but your guess is as good as mine.

It should take less than a minute to pull the two fuses and make sure they're good.

alright, i'll check both but i was thinking that if its possibly a fuse, wouldn't the cig lighter port near the ebrake not work?

Not necessarily. There are two different fuses. Just check them. It only takes a minute.
