    Default HELP !! car sounds like a suby

    ok guys here is the problem....

    i start the car let it warm up as i drive it normally shifting 3k shifts i dont know whats causing the problem at all dont know if its bumps or sharp turns or absolutely nothing wich seems to be the usual circumstance the car will lose a lot of power and start to sound like a subaru almost as if its only running on 3 cylinders ive had check engine lights before posted up a thread prior the codes i get p0172 system rich bank 1 ..... after that code for about 6 months cause i couldnt figure out the damn problem now its cylinder misfire.... im like ok but the car runs fine and drives fine and the problem was very on and off and rare ....

    now the car does it almost all the damn time but its will start normal no pinging clanging or ticking or nothing odd at all but the thing will throw a flashing ses and a misfire code then sound like a sti with exhaust and lose all sorts of power and have very poor throttle response as well because of the misfire most likely

    im just really hoping i didnt blow a motor with the whole butterfly screw thing and all this stuff when i find some time im gunna pull that intake mani off and take a look if im missing a screw im pretty well screwed lol



    any help would be great guys and greatly appreciated

    yeah but how can u not hear it u figure its gotta be making some sorta noises or something and the codes were P0172 and P0300 random cylinder misfire no way i lost all my screws lol

    my 1st cylinder was throwing a misfire code

    one of the screws hit the cylinder wall and bent the tip of a spark plug...

    open up ur plugs and check for damage

    i can almost guarantee that it's your head gasket... check your colant level and let me know how it is.

    coolent level is normal i just reset the codes and took a drive everything was good jumped back in it started it same shit
    coolant is good all fluids topped off air intake clean maf doesnt look bad plugs looked like im burning a tiny bit of oil but other then that everything looks good i take care of my cars this is what sucks the most lol i really gotta take that intake mani off unless anyone else has any other ideas what it could be

    So you're getting a misfire code?? which cylinder is it?? Also if it's the p0300 that's not a random cylinder misfire that's a multi cylinder misfire and the biggest sign of a bad headgasket on the QR's

    sounding more and more like a leaky head gasket

    u getting any kind of smoke??

    well ever since i bought the car when i start it i get a little bit of blueish smoke but clears right up but it does run real rich stanks like gas well either way im gunna remove the intake mani and see what im working with cause something has gotta get done about that and while im in there and working on it gunna pull shit make sure everything is tight and well anyone know how much intake gaskets are ? or where to get a good price the only stores i got by me are a napa auto store and a advance auto lol kinda slim pickens the nissan dealer is about 35 miles away and the other nissan dealer is about an hr and a half drive sooo yeah blah


    what exatly am i gunna need to do this butterfly srews thing parts wise and what if i have a screw floating around in the cylinder are they magnetic can i get it with a magnet , what do i replace them with if they are missing ,

    any other ideas would be good guys im gunna start working on it more today and see if i see anything and id love to have an answer today but it isnt happening quik could take weeks im in the middle of building a house and working fulltime and a bunch of shit soo its gunna be a slow process ill keep you all updated on whats going on thanx

    if a screw fell in the cylinder, i doubt its still in there. due to the heat from the combustion, either that or it would have came out the exhaust.

    ok well even if .. u didnt answer my question what parts do i need too do this is there an intake mani gasket do i have to go to the dealer for this gasket? ... what kind of metal are these screws made of just in case by some odd chance the screw is in there ? i need lock tight obviosely ... correct if there is one missing what replacement do i use for a screw ? come on guys i need help please help any other ideas besides the screws or a head gasket a bad head gasket would blow white smoke out the exhaust atleast working for dealerships for 6 yrs thats usually a pretty good indication there is something wrong my exhaust is clean besides being rich

    dude there are no other ideas... those are the only possabilities. I've worked at nissan for 4 years now and that's what you're looking at. If you need the butterfly screws you need to go to the dealer. I don't think parts stores sell those screws since the're very particular screws. The only gasket you will need is the upper minifold gasket and thats it. The test you really need done is a leak down test. what it does is it pressurizes an individual cylinder when it's at TDC and if the headgasket is leaking the pressure will drop and usually come out of the radiator. You should probably save yourself time and aggrivation and get this done. At the shop we probably do at least 4-5 of these a week and that's usually the problem.

    i had my old manifold which had some good screws u coulda used but i gave it away since it was broken anyway

    ok sooooo guys got that problem fixed while i was it did the butterfly screws and the pre cat and the running problem that made the car sound like a subaru and have no power whatsoever which im really surprised no one wanted to point out to me to check was a faulty coilpack 1 faulty damn coil pack made my life a living hell well if any of u all get some weird problem where the coilpack will cut in and out and make the car run all fucked up check the coilpacks by pulling each 1 at a time and whichever 1 u pull that makes the car stay running the same after u disconnect u have a bad coilpack thanks again guys
