not my car my friends 03 mazda speed protege he just bought
it started happening after he changed the wastegate actuator....the car has a aem tru boost unit here are the specs its tuned to duty cycle:50%,spr: 5,scramble boost:10% which wont completely shut off but the scramble boost system isnt wired so not a problem and the car is currently boosting at 6psi wg actuator can take about 8-9 its a atp wg
It has a no leaks the vacumm shows -21 at idle...20-23 being fine with no leaks i know less than that means theres an issue but the car runs lean and at the same time the thing will bounce back between ideal and lean back and forth but will never run rich

put back the old wg and see what happens... thats the only real way to see if its the wg thats giving the problem.

did the boost increase? what size is the turbo? i know nothing about mazdas but it could be a tuning issue or injector fail
SO there is no Engine Management right? Just the AEM truboost controller?
Do what TB said, revert to the old wg to make sure.
