we could also weld some pins to the rad like the factory setup, or weld on a drilled and tapped block to the rad, or weld on an entire mounting bracket to the rad... hmm, you got some thinking to do.![]()
Check out the random stuff i'm making
Air diversion panels
Gauge mounts and vent deletes
The classic wheel hop aid
Aluminum power steering reservoir covers
Aluminum Relay box covers
13.57@104.25 -baby loves the bottle!-
It's not a low budget build...just slow budget.
For me, welding mounts on will be a little over the top... gonna mock up some out of cardboard and see how it goes.
haha, for me jamming a v6 into a sentra is a little over the top![]()
just let me know cause in my books i still owe you.

ha ha lol thats another way of looking at things... I'll get some sort of updated order to you...
vq35 upper oil pan on the way.... 50$
Scoreeeee! Cleaning my garage and found a couple good cam sensors... should (might) work as crank sensor after my oil pan swap is completed. Bought a fan control for my slim fans, and a couple hood pin push button release locks... huh?... yeah like this...
Now back to my Flu...
...depending how I like the hood pins... the rad center support / lock might be finding itself endangered, actually it will... one way or another.
i could not get my cam sensor to function as a crank sensor even though they look identical?
nice latches

A theory Barry....
5S1408 is the VQ35 right cam sensor. 5S1938 is the VQ35 crank sensor. The camshaft sensor would likely need to be clocked 90 degrees to generate/ pick-up the signal in the crank position sensor location. Also it would help to have the pigtail, as I do. I might as well try lol.

Hey Barry your right about the hole not matching, I'm not sure if it will generate a signal if bolted in and oriented wrong. Something to try. How did you try it... you mean it just didn't fit the plug or... you had it wired up plugged in and it didn't work? Anyway this isn't a big deal... I can just get the right sensor.![]()
my crank sensor went bad, it looked identical to the spare cam sensor i had [i missed the phase change] so i plugged it in
no luck
autozone had the correct sensor for like 20-40 bucks iirc

Well this is my second test fitment for the rad.
I broke the spot welds (wiggle wiggle wiggle) and removed the center rad / lock support. I also trimmed the sheet metal back, behind the headlights with tin snips.
In these photos the rad is suspended... sitting on some harness wires in front of the bottom of the rad support, behind the bumper cover.
It is also slipped under, the upper rad support bar, and touching between the headlights.
With some nice brackets and a little fiddling with the angles, I think my rad is gonna fit nice, no metal to metal, rad to light etc contact.
I'm pretty happy... I think the rad hose outlet will be fine without modification to get by my alternator...
But we will see.
I should also add that I'm planning on a remote rad cap to fill like this...
Please ignore scratches dings etc. they make me sad.
Grill test is on...Now looking at the rad together with grill, the spacing looks funny to me. I'm thinking about shaving the under side of the upper rad support and mounting the rad up a bit higher. Then maybe some aluminum checker
on there to finish.
Got my used 02 VQ35 oil pan, slim fans control, and Quik-lock hood latches this evening. Let the carnage begin! OMG. So I have engine, cooling system, electrical, and body work projects running concurrently... need to install 2j crank pulley, PU lip, custom rad... OMG See you next year lol. Wait a minute it's only January... and I'm still expecting to install 2j 25mm rear sway bay, 2j bump steer kit, along with offset trailing arm bushings, not to mention I want to camber my axle, do custom flares, and add 20mm spacers (right now I'm 18x8 +30) Maybe I'm a little too ambitious, for the amount of time I have lol. Ah well WTF.
go big or go home![]()
yea on the spacers, crank pulley, trailing arm bushings and stuff
yup gets fun
i have 3 motors at various stages, two standalones being set up and two completely different suspension projects underway too
and i won't mention the nitrous project i'm benching for the moment
i'm actually going to be on the track in march
i'm sure of it
my chassis for the time being is done [nothing fancy or exotic but good stuff]
i'm about to return to my roots and run a hybrid four
it was the fastest way trackside
slow, but it runs, i think only you, can understand what that means to me

Dave, have you been busy? ive heard nothing about it....

Update... Yes it's been 20 days of restwell actually really busy in my day to day work / family / fun activities, but sorta taking a break from the swap aspect... I know I just have to swap the pan and sensor, but I have to get the rad in at the same time, which for me, means hood pins ( http://www.b15u.com/exterior-modific...-new-post.html ), and while I'm at it hood vent ( http://www.b15u.com/exterior-modific...-new-post.html ), and other distractions like fender flares ( http://www.b15u.com/exterior-modific...-new-post.html ). Sooo once I sort these out , I'll pull the bumper, reduce the front-end wiring clutter, get the rad fitted and plumbed. I've been thinking about a custom "power brace" one of these
to compensate for the missing rad support bracketing, etc..., and have to pull the fenders off to install my UR fender braces
so things are slowly moving along in a positive direction, and I'm happy, sooo... there you go... getting and giving free ideas... not just an engine swap anymore I guess.
Now its a build.....
