Default Jesse's fully built N/A QR..

I've been working on Jesse's QR project for a while, and it looks like I'll finally have the bottom end back from the machine shop next week..

I am finishing up the cylinder head this week..

Here's a few shots from yesterday.. reworking the combustion chambers.. unshrouding the valves as much as possible, and removing the ridge at the entry into the chamber, around each valve.

Chambers finished, and polished.. You can also see the bowl work from this angle..

Intake runners finished with 220 grit, then, hit with a buffing wheel to clean up..

The head will be topped off with JWT springs, and C1 camshafts.

The bottom end has 11:1 C/R forged pistons, Billet I beam rods, and a lightened/prepped early model QR crank.

We will either be running a sheet metal intake manifold with 3" TB and CAI, or possibly a custom set of ITB's. The engine will also recieve a custom, tuned length header, with a 3" merge collector, and full 3" exhaust. We plan on spinning it to a reasonble 7500rpm, and hopefully making somewhere in the 210-220whp range. Maybe more..

when do you plan on completing this build? I keep reading that the QR head only needs minor porting (motoiq)...

Yeah I didn't think our engines needed an extensive port job either, only way to know would be to flow bench before and after on the job. If you took too much out will affect the velocity... Oh well either way hope to see it running, why has it taken 2 years? If that's what others are referrin to?

There's a difference between spending time to optimize the runner and combustion chamber shape, and just going in and hogging out the ports. Trust me.. I know what I'm doing.. I built a 9K rpm head for a destroked QR, that actually made power all the way out to the limiter, and would have made more had we kept going. I also built a set of heads for Barry's VQ, which ran 12.29 @ 110.82mph with a stock intake manifold and C8 cams.

The QR head flow well, but, has room for improvement with tons of sharp edges and room in the chamber for reshaping to unshroud the valves. Casting flash can be removed as well. Just small changes here and there make for decent gains. But, the work is tedious.. We will flow the head when it's at the head shop getting cleaned/assembled.. just like any other ported head that I've built.

It hasn't taken 2 years.. I already explained this below, in another post.. I won't explain it again.

    Anyway.. back on topic..

The head is now at the machine shop for a cleaning, flow bench testing, and getting shaved a hair to cleanup.

Or try meth on the N/A, to keep overall temps down, and minimize chances of detonation

travis is using 11:1 C/R forged pistons i don't think it needs meth injection or secondary injection, unless the owner decides he wants 13:1 or higher than maybe. i think 93 should do it with slightly bigger injectors and a good timing and fuel tune for 11:1.

Meth isn't only for high compression or Forced Induction, Google it, people run it on Mustangs, Vipers, some N/A Hondas, plus more, and there's even some one who put it on a N/A VQ Maxima with good gains thanks to it

i know it gains power. but finish first the project than do what he like.
