Default FI-R: Barry's big bore, high comp VQ39 build..

Barry's car will be going under the knife in the coming months. After running 12.29 @ 110.82mph, 2 seasons ago, it's time for a freshen up, and we're doing it bigger/better.

    Sleeved block
Custom CP pistons (Big bore @ 101mm)
CNC ported DE cylinder heads (330cfm/224cfm @ .525" lift)
    1mm oversize valves
Custom cams by JWT (.520" lift)
    Custom sheet metal intake manifold
    90mm throttle body
4" cold air intake tube w/ ram air ducting
Custom long tube headers with 2.5" collectors
    2.5" to 3" equal length y-pipe
    3" exhaust
    550cc injectors
TS custom flash, and SAFC for fine tuning
    8200rpm rev limit

There's a few more surprises in store, but, I'll leave it at that, for now..

If everything works out like I think it will, on motor alone, we should be able to make 350-360whp.. and that's being conservative. There's a few Z guys with strokers, making in the 360whp range.. without the big cams, bigger bore (better than a stroker), valves, less driveline loss, etc.. We may see upwards of 375whp. But, I'm telling my customer to expect 350-360whp. I'd rather aim low, and blow it out of the water.

This car won't get there.. yet.. It's staying full weight for now, which will limit us to low - mid 11's all motor.

FWD vs RWD, it is easier to push than to pull.

To run 11.14 with 306whp, he would have to cut something crazy, like a 1.2-1.3 60ft. He must have a crazy high stall with a C4 or something behind it?

it sprayed a 25/50 shot.. the car weighs very little tho...like 2500 with him in it i think...full aluminum tranny, corbeau seats (the stock ones on the mach1 weigh a ton), the slicks and skinnys weigh nothing..acid dipped fenders..its very light

    Nice!
Do FWD VQs use the same parts as RWD VQs?

Some of the parts are the same.. The block is different, timing cover.. etc.. But, the internals and heads are pretty much the same.

Nice.. I love my Mustang.. Building a 2004 GT right now. Novi 2000, built, cammed, ported heads, Viper T56.. Should make around 700rwhp when it's all said/done.
