Boosted for ~30k miles on first motor, tuned w/ reflash & afc, it never blew. I just sold it a few weeks back.
Like the title says, I would like to know why your (or some one you know first hand) Turbo OR SC QR25DE Engine FAILED, BLEW UP, WENT KA-BOOM etc.
I'm in the middle of a low compression engine build and Turbo install (engine done by friday, ECU back friday then it goes in!!) and would like to know WHY exactly ppls QR's are blowing up?? I read alot and some ppl blame it on this or that but there is no thread with all the issues in one. So lets start one.

Good to hear, 1 positive LOL keep em coming good and bad. Good info is price less.
turbo for 5,000 miles no problems ran like a stock car (50 trim on 5lbs)
Procharged for 4,000 no problems yet gas mileage takes a decent hit other than that nothing
Friend has a yellow turbo spec been through 4 turbos 2 underhood fires and still running strong so yeah the qr25 can take abuse (also runs 10lbs daily)
why does it seem like everyone here is selling their turbokit or boosted sentras? kinda makes me think that these owners aren't satisfied with the overall result.
Good question!!![]()
I think it's because it's an achievement, and once you do it, it's like now what? So people move on to another project lol. OR they mod it so heavily that it becomes a PITA for daily driving...
to start off on a high point
ran 16 psi /7k redline quarter miles on the stock motor one too many times...
yea im boosted already and thinking to myself what now lol so now im just dailydriving on 7psi lol
I was boosted for about 10k and I loved it no issues. The people that are blowing there engines are the type that go omg turbozzz slap one on and just start driving around untuned or trying to dump fuel with stock injectors, or othere stupid mistakes like that. This was the first car I had ever installed a turbo on and ya it was scary so I took my time and made sure to do it right, then you have nothing to worry about.
Lol awesome!
I can imagine that blowing your motor, were you running meth atleast?
It's all in the tune.
No meth... I ran straight 110 leaded race gas
I been boosted for about 40k miles and still running strong (10 to 11psi, safc2, stock internals, block guard, head studs)

No HE was on meth LMAO!! JK. thats a testament to how good the internals actually are (contrary to popular belief), that its ppl or shops with pore/bad tuning that is causing all the failures! This engine is more sensitive to bad tunign (all newer Nissan engines) than say ur typical Honda motor, thats why tune is 120% more important to get right on these cars.
Ya I wouldn't recommend doing that to most people... I was setup very well at the time. Full standalone fuel+spark, 780 cc injectors. Good stuff and only going up from here
Boosted at 7.5lbs for 2+ years, 38k miles, theres no issues.
If you tune the car right, have a proper setup, there will be no issues.
Was boosted on a sc61 at 12psi for 40k miles, no engine problems until car was sold. Guess i knew how to drive haha no offense james
