Default How strong is QR manual trnasmission? turbo guys chim in!

Hi everyone, im wondering of how much power does QR manual transmission can take?

Also, i came from Altima and R32 world thats why not too shure about some things like: QR25 came only on SpecV's and with only 6spds???

What other options of transmissions do QR people have, i searched around and it looks like people can mate Maximas tranny internals with QR bellhosings??? I am i missread something?
What about any other engines like VQ30/VQ35, P11 SR20, 1.8 liters!

And will the Sentra and Altima transmissions interchange without modifications?

no swaps easily attainable. IF you'd like to try to swap a b16 qr tranny into a b15 Im selling one, but it ll take some work.
Lean is great on your wife or your grilled chicken, but certainly not on an internal combustion engine!

The stock 6 speed tranny is a beast. So much so, that it's a pretty sought after tranny with some other nissan swaps.
It's hit 500whp, and the only mods are maybe cryo treating?

Some people put the maxima final drive for longer gearing, but that's all I've seen for tranny mods really.

i know Al has hit 500whp, and the blue car that i drive is well over 400whp and that has a stock maxima box which is pretty similar. andy and stevens cars are track beasts... sooooo.... dont worry about it, they arent blowing up like the sr20 boxes.

Does anybody know if Altima 5Speed is same as Sentra 6sp, like identical housings, mounting point, Shifter linkages, Hydraulic clutch? Speedo???
I know this is very technical qestion but im planning to turbo QR Altima thats why im asking! (Not a dreamer))), look in signature for my previous Altimas))

no, SE-R's were 5 speeds. spec-v's were six.

i don't know about you guys, but i don't pussy shift my car at all. i have flatfoot shifted my car since i drove it off the dealership lot with 11 miles on it, and the trans is as smooth as god damn butter. and i'm still on the stock clutch with no slipping at 76k miles, 20 of which were boosted and beat on daily with plenty of roll and dig races, so that says a lot for the stock clutch, too.

trans is hella solid. but solid is only as good as the driver is if you can't get it in gear, you'll bust a tremec just as easily as you'll bust the old sr20 5 speeds.

    Nope...many were autos also.

The SpecV box is pretty stout and it has proven to hold up to 500whp easily.

All SER SPEC V's had a 6 speed with HLSD* no questions there. Some 04 and all 05-06 trannies have better gearing I believe, so if you go with a swap, try to find one of those preferably.

02-03 and 04-06 have different gearing. I wouldnt say its better. They have a longer 1st gear and thats the end of it being better. the 07's+ got the best gearing

That's just what I've heard coming from people who swap from an 03 to an 05 tranny. and all B15s* had the HLSD, B16s had to pay extra. Lol

Ok, thanks alot once again guys,
    To summarise for myself:
All B15 SpecV's, with manuals, had 6sp with LSD
All B15 SER's with manuals, had 5sp, with dif gear ratios over years

Im not going to swap anything yet, untill my Altimas tranny let go!))) In that case i would like to know which tranny i should hunt for!)

    Last qestion!!!)))

Are the SPECV 6sp physically completely identical to an SER 5sp?
Same housing, same shifter linkage points, same mounts? Same Speedo?

Also, does anyone have a link to a website where i can see all the gear ratio differences through the years from Sentra and if Altima??? I tried the stickie but the link fails to open!(

EDIT: Found some info about 5sp vs 6sp interchangability!)

    6 speed swap??

Spec V's had different gearing, I believe the ser's had the same; you had it backwards

and I dont believe the 5 and 6 sp are identical at all

ONLY THE 02 SPEC V HAS DIFFERENT GEARING (1st Gear Is the only difference, its super short)
    03-06 are identical

I bought my 02 New, had Trans replaced with a 03 Trans @ 10K miles (manufacturing defect) it sounded like a golf cart it made a gear howling noise.

The 02 tranny sucks ass. 1 is way to short for me.
