why is it every time someone goes turbo, they always start with looking for a blow off valve by the sound it makes?? i never understood that.
Because thats what attracts most ppl to boost...i for one didnt care but u know.
I got the greddy type s which i love. It does flutter a lil (1psi maybe)
I had the Hks ssqv and did not flutter at all
im not gonna break it down to you guys just yet, gonna wait for some more people to chime in. but sound isn't everything.
sound def isnt everything...just the ricey part of it lol
not to thread jack or nething but if you listen closely to the movie Speed Racer you here the SSQ BOV from tokyo drift that was on the silvia![]()
04 Volcanic Sentra
yeah, ppl are attracted to the sound of it i guess. but i will admit, i thought the HKS SSQV was the shit cause it sounded so nice, after realizing what the flutter/compressor surge meant and what it can do, kinda changed my mind about it.
Sooooooo what you guys are saying is since the ssqv uses a diaphram and not a piston ill get more flutter and the bov will go bad quickly?

i agree i always hear people talking about the hks and its sound. i guess they think the sounds makes ur car sound fast(ER)
i don't think its the BOV that goes bad w/ the flutter but actually the turbo. some bov's you can adjust so you can get rid of the flutter, only thing is that not everybody's hks bov is the adjustable.
I started by choosing a turbo, then an exhaust, then tuning. BOV was next, it's important for intimidation. Lets the opponent know its on. Not concerned with the flutter, I've not seen a BOV damage a turbo at the boost levels I plan to run.
but when u get to compare the funtionality of a bov, hks is nowhere near the top.
i guess this is more directed to people blowing off into the atmosphere and not the people recirculating.
i cant find my tubro book at the moment, but in that book they were comparing bov's & wastegates and the tial & turbosmart 38mm blew away the hks 50mm race valve or whatever it is. and the hks was about $75 bucks more.
i guess im more concerned with the dumping of the air as fast as possible than sounding pretty.
Find the book and let me know where Greddy's valves stand. Also the factory DSM 1G bov.
yea i dont know if thats gonna happen anytime soon, got some construction going on inside my house and i had just moved so my shit is all over the place. but there was a sport compact issue with it and its in the turbonetics book where they talk about volumetric efficiency.
Hey jamon. U got a link to a good site to get a tial bov. What would u recommend? Im looking to loose the greddy and get the tial.
for lower boost, id go with the tial Q... no limit has it for $227 (im saying that cause i saw u say youre going there for your dyno tune), i paid $235 for mine when i got it. heres what it looks like. the turbosmart has a very similar design and is a little cheaper. maybe like $20 bucks less.

Nice i might buy one of those in the next week or so. What kinda flange does it have. It comes with one and you gotta weld it on?
Oh what spring should i get? does it matter...ima be running 10 punds so should i go with the 9psi spring
