    Default Key options?

As I see a lot of my friends with Subarus are able to use the STi key blank for their cars. This got me thinking... would the key blank from a BNR34 Skyline work?

This key to exact... I believe it has the chip in it, I contacted a dealer in Japan about it and I'm still waiting to hear back.

Anyways my question is has anyone tried this or had a friend try this?

It's like ppl using spec v keys when driving a 1.8. No point really, they are the same. Lol

Gtr is a whole different car. You can get it cut to unlock doors and stuff though

Yeah it was just something I pondered while I was at work browsing the internet. The silver Nismo key you refer to has been discontinued and very hard to come by. The only way I could make this specific key work is cut it open and install one of the transponder chips from one of my spares, then it would work... but not worth it at $145 shipped for the key lol.

Damn. Does your family own the dealership or something?

I thought the programming was alot more than that.

You don't need to have a key with a chip for it to work. my keys had a chip in them and i now use a flipout porche cayenne key for my car. I simply looked where the chip was in the key and on the ignition when i turned the key to start the car, then removed the chip and shaved down a part of the plastic ignition ring so that the chip fit in there flat and then painted the whole ring silver to match the interior. cheap antitheft, spin the ring, if its not lined up with the on position and someone has your keys the car wont start. as for programing the fob, i didnt go that far, i still use the original nissan fob with my porsche key
got the idea from a few VW freaks in 2004 sitting in class in autoshop one day

Some guy does this off Craigslist, he takes out the chip and places it into a switchblade. Apparently he has a "Shop"
