Thread: Muffler

i will soon be setting up my new exhaust on my 2004 SpecV but i want a muffler that is not gonna put out a ricy or raspy sound, right now i have a skunk2 catback and i realize that it is gonna sound really bad with my new parts, ive looked all over and cant seem to find one that is gonna sound good with a megan 4-1 and megan midpipe, ws2 sounds real nice but my friend has that so i dont want to get the same one, also i have recently been looking at magnaflow mufflers but i am unsure of how they would sound


im also trying to avoid buying another catback, so an axle back or just universal muffler that needs to be welded would be more along the lines of what im looking for

any advice or help would be appreciated

Why not just add a resonator or high flow cat? It would be a slightly cheaper alternative to buying a muffler and will make a bigger difference in sound quality.

magnaflow catback sounds great! someone is selling the full catback on here for 200

any particular magnaflow mufflers that sound good on a spec v with no cats?

I haven't heard of any that sound good IMO. Did you read my first post? Does the skunk2 have a resonator?

mine sounds GREAT! & trust me im picky as shit I hate ricey sounding catbacks

because ive heard skunk2 catback with a resonator and no cats and it still doesnt sound good, it sounds really nice with both cats though

do you know what muffler magnaflow uses on their catback, i was thinking about buying a universal magnaflow muffler with a tip and getting it welded onto my catback replacing the skunk2 muffler

I have the full catback and the muffler is the oval muffler

My personal experience with magnaflow was not a very good one, it is excessively loud and possibly only sounds good with a large resonator.

I now have a WS2 and it's still a bit loud but it's a nice noise. One of my friends has a nismo exhaust on his NA setup and it sounds great.

Is the only reason that you are staying away from the WS2 solely that your friend has the same thing?

He is, but I've also heard it on some NA specs and it's gross, but these were all without cats and resonators.

I have 1 cat and the resonator that the full catback comes with...I Love the sound it doesnt sound like shit
