Has anyone tried to put in the 10.5:1 compression (b16 pistons) on a 02-06 spec V ? If so, How much do those pistons cost and what were the gains?
I want to do this for my next project. any tips would help
doesnt the b15's come 10:1 i dont think it would be much of a gain and whats the bore size on the b16s...i believe the b15's are 89mm
the b15 is 9:5:1, it would be a pretty decent jump in compression. even if the bore size is alil different its a straight drop in. For example the qr20 pistons has a different bore and stroke and it's a straight in swap. but what scares me about the qr20 pistons is that the compression is too high. it's at 12:1, which you would need race gas to have it running without knocking

ok heres the deal, Will. put the oem qr20 pistons in his stock spec v. Which brought his compression to 12:1. He was having some fuel problems and need to run the car on e85, 93 octane was not strong enough to prevent the knocking in the motor. He tested the car out and he ran against his friends fully bolted spec v and the car with the piston swap pulled 4-5 cars on the fully bolted car. He said with just a direct qr20 pistons swap in a spec v will gain alil more then 230 to the wheels.
now you see why i'm not going turbo yet lol, theres gonna be good things for N/A people. It wont be as fast as a turbo car but it will be dumb fast for a n/a
Whatever happened to good old aftermarket pistons. How much do qr20 pistons go for ? And I assume you can only get them used since no US Vehicles carry them.
i got a quote from one of the websites IPP/Flatlander Racing and its $459 a set with pins,rings$79 a set. For the qr20 pistons.
I'm still searching on how much it's for the 2007 spec v pistons
correct brand new and i dont even need any other rods. I can use my stock rods.
In the meen time i'm looking into 10:5:1 pistons and 11:1 pistons so i wont have to use e85. I want to still be able to use 93 octane gas with no knocks. I'm still doing some researches and price quotes
anyone know the part number for the 2007 spec v pistons?
Yeah baby....... i can get 2007 spec v pistons. (10:5:1)
$256.68 w/pins
$93 for the ring set
wat crazy f-ing project u up to JAY? i wana see this! lmao...ill take pics step by step.lol
does anyone know someone with a 07 spec v? I need the vin number so I can make sure i'm getting the right piston set. The dealership cant tell me the part number unless i hav a vin. If you know anyone just pm me the vin number
well ill let you guys know something... I ran will on the highway at the md meet... and he did not pull on me enough to convince me to get this done... he has the qr pistons, and probably pulled a car or two in front of me...and hes supposed to have around 215whp...
wasnt his car stock with just a qr20 piston swap? and your fully bolted?
which pistons he had in that car? i know he has a car with 07 pistons and another spec with qr20 pistons
his car was i/h/mp/e/bsr/qr20 pistons...
im not sure if he had more, but still the pistons should have done more.
