thats cuz nitrous doesnt catch on fire, it's nothing but cold air inside the bottle. lets say if open the bottle, and it touchs something, it looks sort of like snow.

That bottle was obviously missing it's burst disc.. There's a small rupture disc that gives out if the pressure exceeds 2800psi.. It empties the contents of the bottle, so that the bottle doesn't explode. A blow down tube would have been useless here.. It simply screws onto the rupture disc, so that the contents of the bottle vent safely outside of the vehicle, if the disc ruptures. The bottle itself came apart in this case..
