Some of us including you got lucky...not everyone did. My brothers house in valley stream is still without power. Better safe than sorry...no one can predict the outcomes of these events.

This storm in my area didn't live up to 1/4 of what the news made it out to be.

Call it luck if you want. Not complaining though because damage and chaos is the last thing we needed...

Oh damn, is he at home or bunking at your place? Not having power sucks big time, at least it's not hot.

Just in shock on how much damage this has caused. Idk how bad it is in surrounding states. but im just devastated what happened around my home area. places were i use to work are under water, all the roads washed up. houses and trailers destroyed almost every road here is closed. all the bridges need to be rebuilt. I hope everyone is okay and safe.

No flood damage thank God. But one of my basement windows was cracked. Looks like a landscape rock hit it. Power was out by me also in si. Thank goodness my cousin left me his generator.
Lots of down trees in my neighborhood!

Right, we barley got any wind. just feet and feet of rain it was crazy. luckily my house was unharmed mostly because we live on a nice big hill. And thank you and hope all is well over there too.

Well I got very lucky with Irene another 15ft & it would have been a different outcome.I live on a main Blvd that has 6 lanes & all lanes were flood'd. The water was about 8" on my PVC fence from the sidewalk. I had about 1" of water in my basement. Here is a video clip on just 1 block away.

I'm in zone A. I think anything less than a 1/e mile from the ocean front is Zone A. If DEP do a better job with the sewer this would not have happen. That water wasn't even from the ocean. It was from the rain that the sewer couldn't keep up wit it plus high tide didn't help either.

Oh I see, I thought it was storm surge. The rainwater where you live drains right to the ocean?

The hide tide was the major issue. The water had nowhere to go but back up. After high tide was over the water level went down & back to normal.
