Default NYC: Possible Evacuation..IS A GO!!! Serious business!!! BE PREPARED.

They can't actually be seriously considering this? A full scale evac of all low lying areas would cause a ridiculous traffic jam that would last thru the entire duration of the storm..lol.

Irene May Require NYC Evacuations - Bloomberg

The officials really need to stop putting fear into the residents. SMH!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

If you live in Zone A you need to evacuate by 5pm tomorrow Saturday the 27th.

Really the flood evac is at the racetrack? LOL, I just checked it, there is no evacuation center yet but Aquedyct is in Evac Zone C, same zone as where you and I live. So we should be ok, unless a full on Cat 4 hits us.

IF it does flood, then NYC might not smell like a burnt turd on a dead skunk anymore.

I think the mayor is putting out these bulletins to get people to panic buy and hence stimulate the local economy by getting people to spend senselessly. Cool trick bro!

Here's a map i found online...shows "Storm Surge" areas on long island...according to storm strength/category.

Far Rock may not be a good spot to "ride this one out" Jon

NJ just declared a state of emergency.

I'll be 26 floors up, I'm not the least bit worried, plus I have interests to protect there.

Ahh those signs. Yeh that's the flood evac zones, not the place where you go in case of evac. We should be good man, plus I live on a slight hill, the neighbor will get jammed first if anything. lol.

I live in the green zone! If the hurricane hitting us is imminent I will be in the yellow zone near the middle of the thin strip of land (peninsula).

He said the wind and rain is different from any weather he's ever been in before.
"The rain is very harsh and it hurts the skin," he said. "You panic very quickly because there's a tremendous sense of uncertainty."
Capt. Stephen Russell, the head of the National Emergency Management Agency in the Bahamas, said disturbing reports were beginning to emerge about damage from the storm.
Russell told The Associated Press that at least two settlements in the southern islands have been devastated by the storm.
Russell said there were reports from officials that 90 per cent of the homes in the communities had been severely damaged or destroyed.
On Thursday, New York's mayor urged residents living in low-lying areas to find a place to stay in on high ground in preparation for possible evacuations this weekend.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he expected to make a decision by late Friday whether residents would need to evacuate. The storm is expected to hit the city on Sunday.
