Thread: thinking about something, plus a story

So i've been thinking.. i've had my spec for a little over a year.. still going with payments.. but i want something faster.. do i invest in a turbo?? or should i just trade her in.. i really want the RSX-S.. but i'm still not sure.. i love the car love how it looks and it's fast.. but not fast enough for me.. i dunno.. i'm only thinking this cos everyday i see a blacked out RSX that's on sale by my girl's house and it's making me want one.. blah

also tonight on my way home.. this neon(SRT4) comes out of nowhere.. and i'm minding my own business.. so he takes the way i take to go home.. whatever.. think nothing of it... all of the sudden i see that i'm catching up and not on purpose.. he slows down.. rides along side with me for a while.. then downshifts and takes off.. i'm thinking.. what an asshole.. and let him go for a bit.. then i think to myself.. what the hell.. so i downshift to third (he's quite far at this point) and i just blow by him.. i don't think he expected it.. then he follows me and out of this turn goes far out downshifts to 2nd.. i ds to 3rd.. dumb.. but i punch it.. and so is he.. and i hear it.. all of the sudden i'm catching up and i just blew by him again.. then i let off cos my turn was coming up and he tries slowing down.. almost making me hit him and i slow down even more and go on my own way..


now i don't know what to think of these anymore.. i used to think they were fast.. which i'm not saying they're not.. but i know our cars aren't the fastest out there.. but with what happened.. it's just like.. are the neons just really worked up? do people just boast about them cos they come out of the factory boosting?? i dunno.. it was just weird but i was content.. i hope he thinks twice before messing with a spec now (hahaha)

yea theyre just worked up....i love my spec

i never raced one but, the drive makes a big difference. and they are the fastest car under 20K

i saw a blue one yesterday with a fart can(didn't like the fart can and chrome rims) but it looked sharp. Nice and clean and lowered with a big wing..but it looks nice and "fast"

yea i love my spec too.. don't get me wrong.. but if i'm not gunna boost.. i want something faster.. i dunno.. but boosting the spec is a huuuge possibility.. not anytime soon.. but if i decide to keep it.. it's gunna be boosted.

and yea i definately agree with you Scrapin'... the driver does make the difference.. i guess i was a better driver.. i dunno.. he sounded like he was pushin' it hard.. but who knows

hey ernie, it's funny how you mentined that because I was on the same boat. I actually test drove the cars I was willing to get over the spec such as the Typ-S, 350Z, Altima SE-R, R32 (used), wrx, and evolution (used).

the outcome:
-350Z was out of the picture. only two seater, can't drive in the winter and it's just going to suck having only one person in the car.
-Altima SER. I though it was all cool and stuff, but driving a big thing like that made me feel like I was driving a family sedan. I love the altima se-r but it just wasn't the same. plus paying for gas will suck for my pocket considering it's a 6 cylinder
-wrx: not too crazy but love the turbo. one thing i couldn't believe is that ts actually smaller inside than the sentra. I didn't like the 5MT either. I love my sixth gear, can't afford an STI
-R32, all upgrades are just too damn expensive, and it was used.
-evolution, 26,000 for a used with 9,000 miles. TOO expensive for everything. I don't have enough funds to upgrade...let's not even mention insurance...additional 1,100 on top of the premium i'm paying now.
-rsx: the winner of them but decided not to. I can drive during the winter, affordable, fast, 2 DOOR, etc...I really want it soo bad because this is the last year they are making it.

Nonetheless, I came to the conclusion that the spec is the pefect car for me right now. I can drive it anytime, put people if I have to, enough to catch attention to those damn honda's that its fun to tease them around. It's fast enough for city driving, sixth gear to cruise and take the deep tone down a notch, most importantly, I did a lot of mods to it which is costing a lot of money. Not to get dramatic or anything, but since this is the first car I've ever touched and upgraded with parts by myself, i've become attached to it. I will get my second car in the future, perhaps after college but I'm keeping my spec. I learned to love the spec...I just decided to go with a couple of cosmetic mods and call it a day.

SOOO...I"M HERE TO STAY!!! I'm looking into supercharging it in the future. 3.5 engine swap sounds sweet but not worth the drive to california to have the guy travis do it. as far as turbo, I'm just not mechanically inclined to do that stuff and maintain the car.

haha see i'm thinking the same thing i've heard the type s is uncomfortable.. the spec is so comfortable.. it's fast.. just not fast enough.. i do love it tho.. and i'm on the same boat as you.. first car i've touched with mods.. plus i go a little deeper with it.. when my grandmother passed away she left me some money.. and then i saved then my grandfather gave me a little more and this is the car i picked out.. so i kinda feel like my grandmother is protecting this car and me when i'm in it.. in know it's kinda corny.. but i'm attatched that way as well.. ahh i dunno.. turbo must be the solution.
