Default Yelpers Step In - Do you yelp? Yelpity yelp yelp...

I have been a member of Yelp for a couple months now and I am compelled to check every place I am about to visit (mostly restaurants) because there is no better information source than the general public.

I am addicted to writing reviews, I only got serious about writing yesterday and I am over 20 reviews and counting.

Are you a yelp user? Has it been resourceful to you?

    Thumbs up

Im a longtime yelp lurker, the reviews on there are mostly accurate and very useful. Im pretty basic, using only google maps reviews so far ( intrack tires has great reviews )

I'm using yelp mainly for restaurants/dining.

Tripadvisor.com is the route to go when looking up hotel reviews and attractions etc..

This yelp thing is paying off....I got an invitation to a Cuban restaurant that I am a frequent member of. They are being featured on an episode of Diners, Dives and Drive In's on February 16th and they are having all of their loyal customers come in for dinner and to watch the show together.

What's your favorite Cuban thing to eat there? I'm sure you guys have some legit Cuban places. NYC and Miami are the only places to get the most real deal Cuban food. Lol.

I have tried many things there and I've liked most of it, the fried pork chops, sirloin steak, chicken broiled in garlic sauce, yuca in garlic sauce, moro, plantains, tamals, croquettes. What I Have yet to try are the arroz con pollo and the seafood paella, the only thing that wasn't to my taste was the roast pork, it was a bit too gamey.

The episode ran last night and I was there to watch it with them, we had a good old time as always, I love this place because it has generations of history behind it.

I have heard rave reviews about the ropa vieja, so maybe I'll try that on my next visit.

Be that as it may, an avid yelper like myself would notice if my reviews were deleted or removed. I am not saying that some form of extortion isn't taking place because apparently it is, however, Yelp is still a great resource and the information that is found there is priceless.

IDK about NY but a lot of the restaurants in Miami suck for Cuban food. My momma, now that lady can some good Cuban food!
