Default Driving from Miami to Key West?

I'm am thinking about making this trip next week but I am undecided. I have been reading a whole bunch of stuff on the drive but I have some questions to those who actually did it. I know Ottley did the drive but I couldn't find the thread.

Is the traffic really that bad/common on the highway? I was thinking about leaving Miami early on a Saturday morning and coming back either Sunday morning.

Are there rest stops along the Overseas highway or do you have to go into a town to pee?

I heard the cops down there are notorious for busting speeders, so assuming you're doing the speed limit how long does this trip take (realistically)?

Any good spots to stop off for like 10-15 minutes to stretch your legs and take in the view??

do it and dont look back, stop worrying about speeders and just do it and enjoy it while you do. i left nyc and went all the way to key west and back and i dont regret 1 single mile of my 4200 mile trip. pee?? wtf theres gas stations. speeders? i got my gps at 153 i think and i was lucky lol. i left miami like 3pm and i stopped a good few times. the drive is a bitch when you realize there are no beaches in key west.

it will take about 3hrs or so. i went on a sunday so i cant say much about traffic, it was nonexistent.

good luck, 7 mile bridge ftw!!!

Been a while, but from what I remember is a 3 hour drive, and a 7 mile bridge, which Ott Covered. I remember being stuck in traffic for a good portion of it too, but it's been too long for me to remember what day/time it was.

If you can't make a 3 hour drive without stopping... Idk what to tell you. Lol. It's not hard.

There shouldn't be much traffic on a saturday morning.

lmaoo i don't want to deprive myself of fluids in the Florida sun just to avoid having to piss. On top of that I will have younger passengers who aren't so good at keeping their liquids in.

There's a few spots to stop, but once you get past Marathon or so, it's pretty desolate until you hit Key West. It's not THAT serious of a drive, though. My wife and I drove it a few years back, and I think it took us 4 hours?
