Thread: lincoln general insurance scam!!

i am very very frustrated because of this scam, i know its a little long read, but please give me some opinion, here is the story:

my gf and i brought an eclipse last year so she can use it for school.
she dorm at school which is located at Troy, NY. I live in NYC so I brought the insurance for her through my insurance agent in NYC. we use the Troy NY address since she live there and is alot cheaper, and the insurance company is lincoln general insurance, we paid in full and it was about $1000 for the whole year.

all is well untill after half year later, the insurance company called for a copy of title and registration, so we sent both.
two week later, insurance send us a bill stating we owe the company another $2400. so we called and found out that General Insurance think the Troy NY address is fake and billed us for the NYC address.

we sent proves stating that my gf dormed at school and park the car there all year long, just like how General Insurance requested. And everthing is settled.

now another 3 months later, we was billed for $1200 again, so we called again and they said our proves can only prove for the 2009 period, they are asking $1200 for the 2008 period for using the NYC address, (but we purchase the insurance on 12/16/08, so them ask $1200 for 2 weeks of insurance). anyway, my gf sent another letter from school stating that she had been dorming at school since jan/08 and the car was always parked there.

few weeks later we received the bill again, we called and basicly they told us that "we are not changing the bill any more". we contacted my insurace agent MANY times and they are very frastruted as well. we personally called MANY times, not only did we not get any answer, we was treated like a POS.

so today the 1 year term is over, and we already switched to a different company, but what should we do about the bill? any idea besides talking to a lawyer?

any body here had bad experience with this campany, i was googling and found lots of complains.

i believe there is a new york state insurance board that oversees all insurance companies. call or write them!!!

i would personally tell them to shove it and to sue me if they wanted

yea man progressive tried to get me on something like that, they charged me and i paid 6 months up front, at the end of 6 months they were like you owe us lol, screw them. consumer affairs ftw and just make sure you keep your reciepts.

another thing is you had the car insured in troy under her name or yours??

under her name, thanks for the quick reply, i was just helping her to buy the insurance
