How can I tell which one I need? I don't know what year car my shifter cables came from.

inside of your drivers door it will tell you what day your car was manufactured on

or do you have different cables

They replace the rubber/brass OEM bushings that are in the ends of your shifter cables. Over time, those bushings end up seizing on the shaft and/or blowing out the rubber part, which leads to hard shifts, and grinding. Also, the air gap in the rubber tends to give a "mushy" shifter feeling, even when brand new.

The new bushings are machined via waterjet, and/or CNC lathe, from Nylatron, which is a reinforced, self lubricating nylon material. It has molybdenum powder mixed in when it is cast, which allows it to be used without lubrication, indefinitely. The bushings greatly improve the shift feel and quality. Gear changes go from mushy, to crisp and you get better feedback from the shift feel. I've sold over 300 sets of these, and people say that it's one of the best, cheapest mods they've ever done.

Check the production date, which is on the square tag, when you open your driver's side door. Or, you can simply look at the top shifter bushing on your transmission, to see if it's about 1" in diameter, or about 1/2" in diameter. The larger bushing means that you have a LATER set (04-06), and the smaller bushing would mean that you have the EARLY set (02-03).

sorry i wasnt specific. my car is an 01 im going 6spd, i ordered the cables from a junkyard online i didnt specify a year cause at that point i didnt know there was a difference, but thanks, ill measure it when i get a chance.
