i replaced mine 2 months ago. it's the year of the alternator
does anyone know what it means when it sounds like something is rubbbing...sorta like 2 metals i think it might be the pulley..help someone..lol
possible the bearings in a pulley. use a screwdriver, and place it on the part, and put your ear to the handle, if you hear it through that, you'll know which pully/bearing it is. mine was the alternator. just make sure you keep things away from the belt while doing this. you don't wanna lose a finger.
its weird casue when i had the old alternator on itneva made a sound i put the new one on and it make that sound and im 90 percent sure its comming from the alternator the noise come str8 out of there
the actual pulley has bearings in it??

it seemd like it the pulley has like an opening... and what spins in there i pushed it while it was spinning and it stopped then i let the pressure offf and the noise come back..only problem is i stripped the alternator bolt any one know of a good way of taking it offf....
they make sockets that bite into the rounded off edges, but if it's super stripped, they may not work. I'm not sure if those are hardened bolts or not. if not, you could always try a bolt extractor. if it's hardened, though, you mat have to torch it out. best suggestion would be to soak it in PB blaster for a little bit longer than you'd think you'd need to, and then heat it up w/ a torch or something, then try the extractor.
