Sure.
From what I understand it's a preventative maintenance kind of thing like getting a 2 row radiator and high speed slim fans. It's not necessary for NA lightly modded cars, but if you plan on building the car for turbo, nos, or high HP/high compression NA then you'll want it to keep from harming your engine. Since you plan on spraying then I would say to get it, but if you're going to stay lightly modded I would spend the money elsewhere.
It's good to go fast, but even better to be able to stop!!
Sooooo, subi fuel pump @ 190 lph, will be ok to swap out the stock fuel pump?
Me - "Dude why is that car making that noise?"
Kuzz - "Its a honda"
Me - "It sounds like a lawnmower and a moped had a baby"
Kuzz - "Man, both of those clearly have way more horsepower"

this may sound odd, but i'm having difficulty removing the hose from the fuel pump. is there any trick to doing this??
does it matter what year wrx it comes from?
part number???!
Walbro gss278 is the one you want.
I asked Siri "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck?" She said "It depends if it's European wood, or African wood."
but I'm not boosting just need to replace the one I got and for a cheap price
what about the walbro 342? if its just a straight drop in for the wrx won't it be the same for us?
Gss342 is a 255lph pump used mostly if you're boosted. Gss278 is a 190 lph pump is closer to the stock pump and will drop in with simple mod to the canister. Directions for modding the canister are in the Turbonetics manual. The only thing I wouldn't follow is drilling the 3 holes at the bottom of the canister, because it's a bowl to hold fuel to keep the pump submerged thus it operates at a cooler temp. Hope this info helps you out. Also, I did the mod with a drill, 8mm socket, toenail clipper, file, flat tip screw driver.

cool thanks I was about to order the 342
the gss 278 has the little hole for the bottom filter on the opposite side can I modify anything or do I got the wrong part?
I have to apologize to you, I told you gss278, but gss250 is the flipped version of the gss278. I was going by the pics online, but I didn't notice that detail. You can exchange it, or make it work. If you post some pics I could help you out. Off hand all you would have to do is relocate the hole for the strainer by drilling a hole for it on the bottom plastic piece. Do not replace your stock regulator unless you can test your fuel pressure and know for sure it needs to be replaced. Hope this helps you out.
