Well, what plugs the feed hole when the balance shafts are still in?

The balance shafts lol. they're like cams, but only half the size

If you're still confused on what the inside of a Balance shaft looks like check out my ride thread. I took mine out and cracked her open, you can get a better idea.

It weighs that with the balance shafts inside, correct? Because there is no way thaat housing empty is 8lbs. Empty, it can't weigh more then 3.

ya thats the entire assembly and im sure if you did the jwt bsr kit with the extra quart of oil would be about the same stock

the jwt kit comes in at roughly just under a pound and a half the balance shaft housing cracked open and the shafts removed should weigh between 2-3 lbs.

Well a quart of oil is what, 32oz... 2 lbs? So it'll still be less weight, and besides that, you're losing rotational mass which is even better. Even if the weight was equal, having the BS in there or you did the BSR, the gain from the loss of some rotational would do it for me...

I'm not talking crap, I'm still doing the BSR but I'm not removing the upper pan. I'm going at her with an air hammer tomorrow and plan on re installing the upper portion of the housing only (kinda), and plugging the oil feed to the BS. Hopefully I'll have enuf meat from the lower to still have the hole available to mount the smaller bolt for the oil pump pick up (hence the kinda). Eh, if not I'll come up with some sort of bracket.

i had to cut mine in half to get it out. for some reason it would not clear the lip if the lower pan. i re-installed only half of the upper half of the BS assembly that plugs the oil port.

Chain cut in less than an hour. That was NOT fun. BTW, I don't really notice a difference in vibros at idle. Haven't driven it yet.

Well I sure am glad I did it! There is absolutely a noticable difference, enough of one that I ordered a 2J pulley. Hell for the $70.00, that's $70 for two mods and that's not bad at all.

So I decided to track down the grinding noise and pulled the front driver side strut ass'y and the wheel hub brng is shot. Pulled the half shaft and inner and outer grease is fine.

It does come out in one piece without breaking anything you just have to finagle it out just right hold your left leg exactly 6.7" off the ground, move it with your non dominant hand and twist your head to the right and cuss it out. Then wiggle it around for twenty min and whammo out she will fall.

I made a thread preaching about the awesomeness of the BS chain cut and the lightweight crank pulley.

I did both of them at the same time, the difference was VERY noticeable.
