may have already been discussed, but when doing the Q45 calipers, will the Q45 brackets work on the B15 or do you have to use the b15 caliper brackets and the Q45 caliper?

Second don't shave down the Q45 / J30 caliper clips like I did...
Third don't fucking try to grind 3mm of the caliper underside like I did...
Of course this mounts up and all nice after spacing with a couple washers to get the Q45 / J30 brackets centered... but I wasted many many hours doing it... on one side !

I got to thinking once I was almost done that those Q45 / J30 pads were pretty similar to ones on the B15, about the same width, but a little taller. So I put my old B15 torque member (caliper bracket) on and bolted the fucking Q45 / J30 caliper to it like it was made to fucking fit. Just a mm shaved off the outside caliper fingers so they don't rub the B15 torque member.

So SCRAPIN and everyone you right... they just bolt on LOL

I'm reshaping the Q45 / J30 Pads so they fit our caliper brackets, but regular B15 Pads will work.

I'll post some pics when I finish in a few days so we have a definite record.

understood. I was just curious because I do not have the stock Spec V calipers/brackets. Therefore I would need to purchase the Spec v Brackets and Q45 calipers separately, because I cannot use the Q45 brackets with the Q45 calipers...

confused, you have a specv but you dont have the stock bracket (you mean the torque member that mounts to the hub?)?Depending on what year q45 calipers you get, you just drill the hub bolt holes and mount q45 torque member and caliper and go.

I have a question for anyone willing to help. I just got a set of calipers from Corn Dog, and they do not seem to be a direct bolt on. I'm using the spec torque member, and pads however the caliper will not slide up on the pads and rotor. The line isn't hooked to it so the pistons aren't pressing out any. I removed the metal brackets from the top and bottom of the torque member for the test fit as pictured. I noticed my pads have little nipples on them that keep them from siting all the way against the calipers, so I'm going to have to grind them down anyway. Should I just go ahead and grind the sides of the caliper to make it all fit, or is there something I overlooked? Any help is greatly appreciated!

These would probably look good ground down smooth polished and clear coated...

Ok, how deep is that ground? And is it ground like that on each side or did you only have to do it to one side? Thanks Dave I know this has to be annoying answering the same questions that you answered in the original post. I just dont wanna mess it up

It was hardly anything, and as far as pad fitment, didn't matter for me. If you have and post a couple pics I may be better able to understand the issue, and help better.

Ok, for the stock pads to fit I have to shave 2 little metal nipples off the back of the pads. I'll have to see if my bench grinder will shave that little bit off the caliper then. Do you think it would hurt if I ground it at an angle and not straight down and in like what it looks like you did? Thanks

You should be fine with the angle on the sides... you''re not doing much, and these are very beefy calipers. Just no grinding the caliper where it clamps against the pad. Grind the bumps off the pad if you need, mine had no bumps. Just make sure your pistons are pushed in flat and everything should slide together perfect.

Yea the pistons are flat, the calipers aren't even on the lines yet. I just took em out and want to get a perfect test fit before putting the lines on em. Thanks a lot for all your help, I'm pretty sure that cleared up all the fogginess I had.

How does the brake pedal feel? Is it softer/longer travel than with the original calipers? Just wondering as the total area of the j30 caliper pistons is about 12% more. More fluid to push.

No difference vs stock or negligible. I would imagine it would be similar to someones comparison of a brembo caliper vs. stock.

    cliffs:

    Direct bolt on caliper:
    1990–1996 Infiniti Q45 (1st Gen. G50) and 1992-1997 Infiniti J30
    Front Brake Caliper Model #CL28VF

Can use either OEM Spec pads OR Infiniti Q45 Front pads with a slight modification (grinding)

    Can use OEM brake lines

Now, the two things I am confused on...Did you use the B15 caliper bolts or Q45 caliper bolts?

Also, being a front caliper in my mind this would cause you to lose your e-brake. Is this correct?

It's been a while since I did it, so I can't clearly recall which caliper bolts / sliders, it's definitely one or the other. Let me get back to you. Um and these have nothing to do with e-brake (e-brake cable activates rear calipers only), this is purely a front caliper swap. 1 piston stock for 2 piston j30.
