Question 04-06 Spec V vs 05-06 Corrolla XRS

    Pic assist :

Spec V (as we all know lol ..)

    Corolla XRS

Know this is something i've been debating for a while now. If i were to give up my spec v for a XRS.
    Facts :
    Spec V has
Way more torque .. aka more practical for every day driving
    More aftermarket assist
Performance wise i think its better then the XRS in handling and 0-60 although i've seen XRS beat some Spec V both modded / a LSD / Brembo option / stiffer shock & springs

    XRS has
    A way better interior finish
Reliability that blows away the Spec V
    More interior space
Styling (depends on the opinion) that is more "modern" with side skirts etc
Performance wise it lacks torque like crazy and the cam switch over happens at like 6000rmps so anything below that and it feels like a civic DX

My question is : What can the XRS offer more then the Spec V ?? Do u think trading a Spec V for a XRS would be a wise choice ?

After modding my own Spec, I'd say hell no... I have too much money in my Spec to trade down... if I had a bone stock Spec V... I'd say maybe but only for certain circumstances.

I'm not sure why you said : oh man, not this again

This thread is completely different asking people for opinions / impressions or comments on which they would pick and if they think switching to a XRS would be a good choice.

on a side note : i did have fun reading the op's fail attempt

the corolla IMO is a joke, i see them all the time with side skirts and bumper pieces missing and the only people i know who have them are girls. i see way more crap corolla than i could count in a day. i personally think the spec is wayyy better, i drove my ex's corolla for a 200 mile trip and hated every minute of it, it handles like poop and has no pick up. just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the comment. Just want to point out that theres a difference between a Corolla CE, S and the XRS. Not sure which you drove...

Just like the Sentra SE, SE-R and Spec V

it was an xrs, i should have said that, and back then i had a 98 cavalier z24 and i always preferred to drive that over the corolla cuz i felt like a 16 year old girl driving the corolla.

I like the Spec V because I don't see that many of them where I live... I have owned a bunch of Acura's and Honda's... so I wanted something a little more rare. I am not really a fan of Toyota other than a Mark IV Supra... I'd sell some of my organs for twin-turbo 2JZ Mark IV.

ill say this as i drive my brothers 06 type s right now as my b15 is down and out.

you will feel higher in the car
even a higher amount of understeer
huge windows are a plus, but new blind spot for the c pillar passenger side
    higher revs
    better gas milage
car has a bunch of body roll
smaller steering wheel seems like gokart
    bigger trunk
    weighs about 200 lbs more
    headlights project less light stock
    DRL are the suck
extremely easy to change oil + filter

in other words, you have to do a lot of mods to it to make it handle like the spec stock. coilovers, 17'' wheels with low profile tires, bigger brake calipers and rotors.

you get my point. the rolla has more room in the back seats too, and the trunk is larger.

id stick with the spec though. i wouldnt necessarily consider it an upgrade.

hmm thanks for this comparison. But the rsx type is def faster then a spec ?

Hands down for the handling, I've seen it everywhere that the 16'' and the ''sport tuned'' suspension the XRS doesn't really cut it handling wise.

So what can the XRS offer more, a better interior and thats about it :s lol ?
