Default Georgia Sentras - April 28th Track Day

Shift Atlanta is having an awesome Mountain Run/Track Day event on April 28th. Here is the info directly from the facebook event page-

    Sunday, April 28, 2013
    8:00am until 7:00pm

    North Georgia Mountains

Why have a race car and not be able to race it??? Join us for our first semi-annual mountain run/track day and show us what you've got!

The plan: Meet at 8am on the top parking deck of Perimeter Mall where everyone will receive breakfast, monster energy drinks (water for those who cant handle caffeine), and plenty of other handouts as well as further plans for the day. Then we will roll out at 9am with a police escort to the top of 400 where we will be stopping at Race Trac to gas up for the day. once everyone's tank is on F, then we will make our way to AMP Motor Sports Park where we will be allowed 2 hours of track time as well as a catered lunch. After everyone is finished with lunch, we will ride out from AMP around noon and head into the mountains toward Brass Town Bald, where we will stop for a photo-op. Around 2pm we will then make our way into Helen where we will enjoy pizza from a local pizza parlor for dinner. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is all included in the $100 dollar fee to participate in the run, as well as one entry in a raffle drawing to win a FREE xbox 360!!!! If you would like to bring a passenger it will be just $50 more. If you have any question/comments please feel free to ask!!!!

ATTENTION: 25% of all proceeds will be dontated to St. Jude Children's Hospital for the research of childhood cancer. 100% of Any extra donations will go DIRECTLY to St. Jude.

You may contact me (Colin Peebles) at 770 823 2864 or (Edward Fitzpatrick) at 706 429 6540 with any questions about the run!

There is a meet the night before and you can pay your $100 there or contact Colin to meet up in the week.

I'm definitely going to be there and would love some other sentras to come out and represent our community.

Deadline for payments is the 25th, which is this Thursday. I'm sending my payment this morning to lock my spot. I think there are less than 10 slots remaining. Let me know if you plan on coming

Probably. Most racing organizations require you to have a snell05 or higher certified helmet

just so i'm ready for this if i get a break

    track time alone requires certification?
if you have no flag knowledge is there 30min ground school?
does the car need a roll bar, inspection or what?
will we be alone or in groups?

    lot of questions sorry

i'm trying to break free for the track time but unlikely to hang out
need to go back to work

    a police escort! wow

    Hola Barry

This will be my first time at a track.... I don't have too much knowledge about track days, but here is what I'm pretty sure about-

If you just want to meet up for the 2 hour track time it will still be $100. Not sure about the ground school thing, but I think most track days have some sort of briefing. Roll cage not required; car just needs to be in running condition. There is also a sound limit of 98dba, weighted 50 feet from the edge of the track under full throttle. There will be around 40 cars attending, so I'd expect at least 30 of us on the track at any given time since everyone will be trying to get in as many laps as possible.

Link to the detailed course rules (includes flag info, passing, etc.)- http://www.atlantamotorsportspark.co...egs-REV-IX.pdf

And detailed info on the actual course (includes entry speeds, brake points, etc.)- The Road Course | Atlanta Motorsports Park

100 bucks for two hours of track time
    that's a bargain
to a drag racer thats years on the track lol

    sammy
    from the amp rules
. All cars – require Snell approved helmets SA2005 or later. Must have
AMP “helmet approved” sticker before entering track to drive.
    c. Closed-toe shoes required.

i may not have time for this from a mech though
    CAR INSPECTIONS & PREPARATIONS
    a. Members and guests are responsible for their own vehicle
maintenance and safety and to ensure it is in good working order.
Members and guests agree to hold AMP, its employees or any entity
associated with Atlanta Motorsports Park harmless for any failure of a
    vehicle.
    b. Each vehicle must be inspected by you or your mechanic before going
on the track. If your mechanic does it, we want you there to observe.
This will serve many purposes, all of which make for a safer day at the
    track.
    c. Each vehicle must have a tech inspection sticker displayed in the area
    of the front windshield.
    d

    BTW
    COURSE RULES
    a. THIS IS NOT A RACE
    b. Each driver is responsible for learning the names and locations of all
corners on the track, as this will be a means for giving instructions
    and safety notifications.
    c. Both the Driver’s and Passenger’s windows of cars entering the track
and throughout the entire session must be down regardless of
    weather conditions.
    d. Standard racing flags will be displayed. (NOTE: The absence of any
    flag indicates a “Green Course”)

ii. Yellow Flag – Caution, no passing allowed until you see the
    next corner st
iii. Double Yellow Flags – Full course yellow with no passing and

iv. White Flag w/Red Cross – Medical vehicles on track. PROCEED
    WITH CAUTION.
    v. Red Flag – THE SESSION HAS BEEN STOPPED! Dangerous
situation on track, likely blocking the entire track. Come to a
stop as quickly and safely as possible at the track edge and
    await further instructions.
vi. Black Flag – Shown at Start and Turn 8. If pointed at YOU, you
are the only offender, make your way to pit road and see the
    grid marshal
vii. Black Flag ALL – Black flags waiving at all turns. Slowly return
to the pits and await instructions from the grid marshal
viii. White Flag – Slow moving vehicle on track ahead. Proceed

    point the car past you.
    x. Yellow Flag with Vertical Red Stripes (Debris Flag) – TAKE
CARE! A slippery condition exists, or debris is present on the
track surface. This flag is always show standing.
xi. Black Flag with Orange Ball (Meatball or Mechanical Flag) –
Shown at Start and Turn 8. There is a mechanical problem
with your car. Proceed directly to the pits and see the Grid
Marshal. DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER LAP.
xii. Checkered Flag – Session is over, exit the track on the next lap
