Shift Atlanta is having an awesome Mountain Run/Track Day event on April 28th. Here is the info directly from the facebook event page-

Sunday, April 28, 2013
8:00am until 7:00pm

North Georgia Mountains

Why have a race car and not be able to race it??? Join us for our first semi-annual mountain run/track day and show us what you've got!

The plan: Meet at 8am on the top parking deck of Perimeter Mall where everyone will receive breakfast, monster energy drinks (water for those who cant handle caffeine), and plenty of other handouts as well as further plans for the day. Then we will roll out at 9am with a police escort to the top of 400 where we will be stopping at Race Trac to gas up for the day. once everyone's tank is on F, then we will make our way to AMP Motor Sports Park where we will be allowed 2 hours of track time as well as a catered lunch. After everyone is finished with lunch, we will ride out from AMP around noon and head into the mountains toward Brass Town Bald, where we will stop for a photo-op. Around 2pm we will then make our way into Helen where we will enjoy pizza from a local pizza parlor for dinner. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is all included in the $100 dollar fee to participate in the run, as well as one entry in a raffle drawing to win a FREE xbox 360!!!! If you would like to bring a passenger it will be just $50 more. If you have any question/comments please feel free to ask!!!!

ATTENTION: 25% of all proceeds will be dontated to St. Jude Children's Hospital for the research of childhood cancer. 100% of Any extra donations will go DIRECTLY to St. Jude.

You may contact me (Colin Peebles) at 770 823 2864 or (Edward Fitzpatrick) at 706 429 6540 with any questions about the run!

track time alone requires certification?
if you have no flag knowledge is there 30min ground school?
does the car need a roll bar, inspection or what?
will we be alone or in groups?

lot of questions sorry

i'm trying to break free for the track time but unlikely to hang out

Hola Barry :D

This will be my first time at a track.... I don't have too much knowledge about track days, but here is what I'm pretty sure about-

If you just want to meet up for the 2 hour track time it will still be $100. Not sure about the ground school thing, but I think most track days have some sort of briefing. Roll cage not required; car just needs to be in running condition. There is also a sound limit of 98dba, weighted 50 feet from the edge of the track under full throttle. There will be around 40 cars attending, so I'd expect at least 30 of us on the track at any given time since everyone will be trying to get in as many laps as possible.

Woah woah woah lol. Allsentra is my primary forum..... I've been trying to come on a here a bit more though... to stay in touch with you guys :)

Anywho.. quick rundown of the day: IT RAINED ALL DAY!!! Lol. The itinerary stayed the same except for the track. I'm assuming they had their reasons, but we ended up not doing laps as previously planned. Instead, we received a tour of the facility and spent some time hanging out with the owner. However, we did do 3 parade laps to support one of our sponsors, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Porsche club of america was finishing up on the track when we arrived, and none of them seem to be going over 60mph lol (which is how fast we went during the parade laps).

While at AMP, we ate lunch and did the raffle. K&N was one of our sponsors! They gave away an entire intake system (for any car, you just fill out a certificate and tell them what car you want it for), drop-in filters, hats, banners, shirts, etc. Somebody also won an xbox 360 with kinect. And they gave out two passes for kart racing (these are the karts that can go about 100mph, and the AMP kart track has the most agressive elevation changes in the world).

After AMP, we began our trip to the mountains. This... in my honest opinion... was worth the entire day. We set a pretty quick pace considering the rain and fog.

I don't know if you guys are familiar with St. Jude Hospital, but the kids that are their have cancer and other terminal illnesses..... This event was in honor of St. Jude Hospital and 25% of all revenue generated for this event and future events is donated to St Jude.

There are some awesome events coming up, one of them being time attack trials at AMP. For those of you that did not make it... particularly the GA guys. I urge you to at least come out and meet these folks at the next car meet. They have great plans for the future and are some of the most mature car enthusiast I've been around.

All in all, it was a fantastic day despite the change in our planned activities. Hope to see you guys at an event soon :)

I'm also happy to announce there were no accidents :) The turbo tiburon spun out once, but avoided collision. Other than that, the only scare was the 5.0 mustang almost losing it while doing some highway pulls against the Ford RS (still has mexico tags on it, very sick car). There were some guys there taking picture, but have not posted them yet.
