    how do you know its a boost leak?
    Garrett journal bearing turbo

    Boost dropping off at a high RPM.

    a clamp needs tightening i think. the ones that always gave me trouble were the two attached to the 2" - 2.5" silicone hose coming off the turbo and the one directly before the MAF pipe.

    I had issues with the one on the Turbo inlet, was leaking there. Fixed it.
    Went out for a drive, still loosing boost.
    Going to get the car properly pressure tested this weekend, so let's see.

    update for those watching this thread....Boost lab said I had to either repair or replace my turbo. I opted for a garrett journal bearing center piece instead of repair. Difference of $100.

    Any way - my car now is fixed (again) and pocket book is empty (again). happy trails peeps!

    they showed me the markings smj something or other.... and I paid $300 xtra for a race ball bearing turbo.

    Just to add, I've been warned against Turbos sold from that shop, actually did not take it seriously; refused to believe it..

    yea well the dude lied straight to my face and when I picked the vehicle up he was nowhere around. And they didnt lift it or show me a thing. Here's the keys and have fun was their last words as they shoved me out the door.

    Mine is precision. Says it on the compressor housing. I imagine 2k2's is the same.

    Idk about the supposed hybrids.

    If the #s are somewhere easy to see then 2k2 or I could compare ours.

    This is the only picture I have uninstalled, mines is authentic Precision sealed in box.

    Can take a picture of the compressor wheel if necessary?

    Not noticing any numbers in pictures of the center of my turbo. Probably not going to take it apart if that's what's needed to compare numbers. Was hoping it was easier than that lol
