Why stick to nissan parts? Its gonna crutch the fuck out of this project. I say look into using an evo drivetrain. All youll have to figure out is how to mate up the tranny to the block. And a clutch flywheel combination. But thats also easy, an adapter plate can be made. And if you call jwt, im absolutely positive they will make you a clutch and flywheel. But a one off wont be cheap. Then the issue of the k member. It will have to be either modified or completely redone.
If I wanted an Evo I'd buy and Evo. Plus to use it's drivetrain and forgo the 4b11t is almost useless and senseless. Add to the fact that without the appropriate wheel sensors, abs, ecu's etc, the mitsu system would work exactly the same as the nissan units as I've outlined in the previous posts.
Outside of the sensor issues the only thing the mitsu units bring to the table is strength. Given the costs to try and make them work I could build a custom gear set and very basic gyro sensor that would accomplish the same for much less using a nissan r200 diff (which is also found in many subarus)
Ideally this swap would be done on a loaded 05 or 06 to make use of the existing electonics, but even then there would be some hurdles. What I'll likely end up doing is building a control box so I can manually select the amount of TQ split. The gyro sensor could work also but i'd likely have to program out the X & Z axis and use just the Y as a very basic Yaw controller
