Hi okay i did a little reaserch plus i asked a friend of mine an hi says its the release clutch (bearing) but since he does not have any previews expirience with spec v's just want 2 make sure and get the opinion of pros... so i bought my 03 spec v the exedy and fidanza flywheel combo on e bay and a install on it almost 5k ago everything was ok.only 3rd gear felt like a grind feeling but didnt actually grind any grear.check on the forum an learned about the red line HSP... so i went to visit my mom in CT and the car was left standing in my dads for 3 months. bought the tranny fluid but when i came back i noticed like a little cricket noise. it only does it when the car is in nuetral...not driving an not if im pressing the clutch...changed the tranny fluid but cricket noise is still there...could it be the release bearing or something else? thank u in advance.
was it an OEM throwout bearing or the one that came with the clutch? that is your problem though. ive gone through 3 in the past 2 years. your clutch pedal may need to be adjusted as well. all TO bearings suck for this car.
I bought a throw-out bearing from ACT for my JWT flywheel/clutch combo it has worked well for me. Another thing the noise could be is the Input Shaft Bearing inside your trans.
i used the one that come with the clutch kit... i've been doing some online browsing an i saw the ACT bearing thinking about it just want to make sure is that... sorry for the other question but im not a much of a mechanic so dont know much whats the Input shaft bearing? whats its function so that i can consult over here with a Mech...
an if it where to be the Thorw Out whats the outcome of leaving it as it is? can i wait a while or should i replace quickly what can happen?
The input shaft bearing is the bearing that centers the shaft that comes out of the transmission. It's the splined shaft that the clutch goes on driving the trans. Since this is a transmission problem your better off taking it to a trans place like Aamco or something. A mechanic would just take the trans out and send it to a trans shop so you may as well cut out the middle man. If its the throw out bearing it should be a quick and relatively cheap fix. If its the input shaft bearing then it will be about $700 for parts and labor. If your input shaft bearing is bad it may be a good idea to change all the bearings in your trans and refill it with Redline MT-90 trans fluid. The $700 should be able to cover the entire bearing overhaul as the guy is going to have to take the input shaft out in order to get to the input shaft bearing. Hope this will help you understand what, where, and why its there
yes u where very clear thanks a mil, hope is not al that u've just said cuz damn an i just had replace the tranny fluid with the redline stuff. everyone of my buds say is the Throw Out bearing hope is that cuz it didnt do that noise til now an my spec is always been treated as baby, thanks a lot for ur quick respone an opinions.
TO bearing (release bearing) will just get worse with time. when its had enough itll just come apart but it takes a good while for it to get to that point.
