Thread: Max HP/Tq on stock axles?

So has anyone determined the max amount of hp/tq the stock spec-v axles can withstand.

I'm gonna give them a 600+ hp test in a few months.

Ull be running in the 10's before u break them from too much hp.....then again thats never been done before

hp doesnt actually break axles... a bad launch(instant trq on slicks), wheel hop, and stress over time will

Wheel hop destroys them. I know first hand been stuck at the track more than once lol

It can hold as much as you can throw at it for now.

Is cupid still on stock axles? many 300 and 400hp cars have run them with no problems (besides launching at the track/slicks) that I've seen.

like i said, hp wont break the axles. and in this case, mph either.

the boot might fall apart and leak all that grease, but the axle actually breaking/snapping wont happen unless theres a jolt of stress (<if that makes sense)

Actually, jolt (or jerk) is the correct nomenclature, it's the rate of change of acceleration (or derivative of acceleration in relation to time, just like acceleration is the derivative of speed in respect to time).

one of my close friends is going for 700whp in a couple months ... we'll see what happens. he's already made high 400's on a simple build tuned with AFC

anyone trying this with dart sleeves? run a hole lot of boost with these bad boy's. get a huge turbo and go for broke. lol
