For the past week my car was being unusually rough shifting into gears. Yesterday i was unable to get into most of my gears at all. I had to turn the car off, put it into gear then start it to get it moving.
I have had a nismo sts installed for about 7 years now. My car is a 2004 Spec V. I have always had the minor 3rd gear grind issue occassionaly.
I took off the boot and took a look at the assembly and noticed the bushing was bad. We put another bushing in there for now. It seemed to make it slightly better but its still messed up.

Clutch system still good?
Being able to shift into gears when the engine is off doesn't say much, because you CAN do that even with the clutch not fully disengaged.

the clutch flywheel and pressure plate are all about 1.5 years old and have been babied with an occasional pull here and there. clutch feels fine and clutch fluid is good. i can go full throttle on my turbo spec no issues...just shifting probs

Any noise? Take your STS and see how it feels. You might have bent shift cables or something.

^^ +1. start with the STS. Bleeding the system never hurts. Stock clutch line? Check the CMC, too. Might be letting small amounts of air into the system.
Mine started doing this when my line clogged up with stuff and messed up my slave and master clutch cylinder
well im officially stuck and cant get into gear...kust call AAA

Check the shifter bushings under the hood, often the rubber gets torn up over time

I had the clutch pedal bracket break.....well it cracked enough to make the spring not able to engage the clutch.
I replaced the slave cylinder/bushings/ throwout bearing all before I realized what it was.

Well I got Triple AAA to one of their shops. They told me it's something wrong internally in the transmission and there is nothing they can do for me. Well I'm not a mechanic so not really sure what to do from here...if it's even worth getting it towed to a transmission shop now for a second opinion.

sry for the next sentence.....
I have a felling youre gonna get screwed over.
and just fyi, all my mechanic friends thought my issue was internal as well. The last thing to even cross my mind was the clutch pedal. I mean it very well could be internal, Id just hate to see you charged $2000 because they didnt know what was wrong and just assumed it was because its more likely

x2, you need to go thru all the linkages and bushings for the shifter, there may be some slack somewhere. also, with the motor on, the clutch has to disengage for the smooth shift, like said above, bleed the system. make sure your carpet isnt under the clutch pedal, etc.

Turned out to be a broken pressure plate.

yeah, that'll do it. replace it with an aftermarket if you can afford it. At least a lightweight flywheel, if you can. FYI, Fidanza makes JWT flywheels.
