Me and my mechanic have come to the conclusion that that cable rubs within its clam that lies in the cabin. He recommended that if you made the inside grove this XXXX pattern like on tools ect it will lock the cable in from moving and it will not chafe and snap.
Can anyone confirm that most occasions the cable is snapping in the cabin?
Yes it does break in thr cabin. Mine broke right in front of the clamp. It wasn't due to chaffing out rubbing. Out was due to the shifter going too fat forward which is why they sent out a cover with a screw hole to screw in a bump stop to prevent the shifter from going too far forward. Thr L bracket isn't one solid piece like the stock shifter. It pivots.
When my cable snapped,I just put the broken end in thr clamp and tightened it really tight. And it worked better h than before. Then later, on the bottom of the shifter, theres a ball with a bar that controls the side to side movements and that broke off.
Dont do it just get something different, all you are doing is wasting your time and soon your money when you are replacing your shifter cable every few months. I had this shifter and my friend had this shifter and both our cables snaped just like everyone elses cable did. So DONT do it just walk away.
When you say it pivots does it move away from the shifter rod left and right or forward and back?
Its such a nice piece im dedicated to make ti work it seems like such a simple mechanism.
What if I got a new cable that was 0.5cm longer?
I can't see these cables snapping from pulling it must be getting torn somewhere and wear improperly.
How did you all like it when it worked lol im fixated on a legit ss not just and boomerang lol.
The L bracket pivots forward and back. I dont know if they make a shorter shifter cable. The cable snaps from being jamed forward.
If I don't clamp the cable along the base of the L would that help give it the extra slack it needs?
This is how it will look with the cable on.

So it seem that it will get bent and crimped up and down, does it have to be clamped in or can it be let free??
Thanks for the pic!! Big help!!
If you dont clamp it in then it wont work. I figured the pic might help you to understand how it works. We all just dont want to see you go through what we already did go through. Shifter cables arent cheep. You may be looking at this soon if you use the B&M shifter.

could it be the metal /aluminum bushings bushings? lol
Either the shifter rod should be bent back more to compinsate or the end cnertion where the cord goes should be closer in
...ya ill prob be taking this back now

It's just like the, uh, '100mph courtesy'... You start at 60, you don't let off 'til 160. You start at 30, you AT LEAST go to 130. And attempting to, uh, run like Houston interstates with traffic directly in front of you... These 60 to 80 pulls; these 60 to 95mph pulls... What the fuck is that shit about?" -IMV Films

Do altima's have the same issue with this kit??
"Are there any bolts to adjust so you cant throw the shifter to far?"

Ahh I was interested in how a new rod would feel but I have been in contact with a Nismo site and they will be getting more Nismo kits. I recommend they do a group buy here so we'll see what happens. Bye Bye B&M at least I wasn't charged for it....
whew!
saved by nismo
for me it was a lot of wasted effort
