So a friend of mine at Norther has found a B&M SS that states its for a 6 Speed in his inventory. Wants big money for it but may be able to ditch it for cost to me.
So I have found this:
Buy short shifter, altima, short throw shifter, Nissan Sentra Spec-V (6-speed) 02-03 altima short shifter at Aliexpress.com
I've heard all about B&M snapping cables but thought that was just a SS in cabin rod...
Stay away from the in cabin ones that requires you to change the shift lever. You heard right.

Got a dead ECU? Let me buy them from you.

I think what I posted could be a generic SS.
I'm gonna look at what he has for me
Unless it's a DIY, TWM (which rusts) or a Nismo, I've heard to STAY FAR AWAY from anything else.
Axxiom or however you spell it is pretty good too.
I got the 1st gen TWM and it's still pretty good.

Im gonna check it out regardless to see what the box says and I'll get some pictures of it.
I told him we have bad encounters with B&M and if it doesn't work right I want a refund lol they agreed...
If it works and its is actually made to fit the 6 speed then we have more options to choose over Nismo that isnt made and just those hook SS's.
My shifts are quite hard since I put the bushings in years ago so I'm gonna pissed off. Ive tried new oil so, I'm gonna be the ginny pig and try this out. Fingers Crossed...
Good luck... it's been well documented how often these shifters fail, but if you want to see for yourself, go right ahead.
The B&M short shifters are a failure because they harness the shift cable too tightly. This causes the cable to wear and eventually break over time. In case you missed all the previous warnings, I would stay away from them.
Are there any chances that this piece is different and actually works properly?
I will post pictures up if its comforted to be the same as what was avaliable years ago then i'll take it back but i wanna have a look.
There's only one B&M shifter out there, I never recalled them changing their design.
On a side note, you complained your shifts are hard after the bushing install... they will be even harder with a ss.
ill make you a deal on a new megan racing short shifter
i don't know why you are being very hard headed about the b&m and any other generic's like it. everyone has said to stay away from it but you are still wanting to get it just to get it.
i used to have the B&M, i will tell you to stay away from it.
when i had the b&m, it was great at first but then over a short time, and i mean very short time, it started to bend my cable. i would have to pop out the cover and unbend the cable. then eventually B&M found out there was a flaw, so they sent out a bump stop that you would screw in to the top of the plate to prevent the shifter from traveling too far forward, which that didn't help. eventually the cable broke. then after i ghetto rigged the cable, on the bottom of the shifter shaft theres a ball that has a bar on it that controls the side to side movements and that snapped.
so i accepted my loss and put the stock shifter back in. through searching i found out about the $3 short shifter mod and that has been the best and cheapest plus its reversible. I never had any issues w/ shifting, grinds, or anything. its been on for 3 years now.
again, i assure you to stay away from B&M or any generic companies like the B&M cable shifters.
I have NEVER heard anything good about this shifter. Why risk it, all the other adapter style shifters are proven and highly respected on the boards just go for the sure thing. The Axxtion Gen II is awesome I have it and very easy to install and its only like $80 or somthing

I am just a hard headed person I like to make my own mistakes so I have no one else to blame. I appreciate everyones out put on the situation and take it into consideration but initially I have to do it myself to be satisfied with my decision. If I dont do it then i'll feel what if... I can take an I told you so np.
I am going to look at it I'll take it out and take some pics of the peices and you guys can let me know what causes what problems maybe it can be fixed??
Does the cable break in the same spot?? Does anyone know how long the broken/short end is?
I have the kit (at no cost yet) I cant open it but I have a feeling that the cord could be rubbing on the block that it rests in. This can be sanded down and smoothed.
Are these cables able to snap without and destructive wear and tearing?
I will take a picture of the set. If the cable snaps in the same area then I just need to find where that leads to.
Does anyone know exactly where the cable snaps?
I have a feeling its could be a rubbing issue on a piece where the cord rests in. This can be fixed.
^ Lulz! I wouldn't even risk having to replace a shifter cable but to each his own. Buy it. Install it. Use it for 12 months and report back.
Dont leave a computer while your at work...
