the zinc will vaporize and turn into zinc oxide, your shielding gas will blow most of it away. Just drink milk if you get the funk from welding galvanized.

Just turn the heat up and you'll burn right through it.

while this is true, lets not kid ourselves.....its much safer to remove the coating.

im not going to sit here and lie about it. every form and fashion of welding is hazardous to your health, except maybe sub arc. aluminum tig is pretty bad due to the flakes of aluminum that fly around in the air that you inhale. and heliarc is worse....

idk why i even do this...it totally fucks my sinuses up everyday. but i love to make things and melt metal together lol. its really cool when i can take a stack of plates and put them together to make something that looks super cool or does something awesome.

Can you weld a copper pipe to a cast iron manifold? Basically as I stated in the other thread I need to weld on a piece of piping to the manifold and then weld that back into my EGR pipe. Seems pretty simple but just not sure about how compatible the materials are..

Exhaust wok need to be fitted on the car, tacked in place, and then pulled down for welding...... it's pretty much impossible to do it totally off the car unless you build a fixture.

You could braze or solder that together. You cannot weld a ferrous metal to a non ferrous metal...

Mines Stainless... PITA if i remember, we had to extend it for my header installation, had to wait for a piece of stainless and some different wire so that it could be welded...

can you weld mild to stainless?

and thats why i hated the shop i used to go to, they made me buy this wire for specifically doing stainless, change the gas, do all the grinding, all so i thought i could save a couple of bucks...
