I was wondering how many of you guys still have the spare tire in the trunk and why or why not? A few of my friends took it out because of weight/space loss/gains. I've thought about doing this and having a tire plug kit and a can of slime just in case (and a ton of paper towels). I also have that AAA gold if worst comes to worse..
i have used that flat proof in a can for years in place of my spare
but i always run good tires
i live far from the city and drive highway miles most of the time
only flat i have had with the car was on the dragstrip

no spare for me. at first it was weight loss, but since i got into the car show scene its jsut so i have room for my battery and my custom TV/sub system

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSTed.
I have mine in the trunk still. The wieght reduction saved on a daily driver does not benefit me having to call somebody to come get me because I have a flat tire and I took out my spare.

Anytime you're traveling far from home it's good to keep a spare and a good jack, because you just never know.
There was a time when I didn't carry a spare. When I didn't my trunk cardboard would collapse whenever I put anything in the trunk. So I just put it back in there and then thought good of it since I have a spare now just in case.
it's risky in in GA to drive without one imo. A trip to the city, which is common, puts me 40 miles from home. I don't want to wait 45min for someone to drive out to get me or help me fix a problem all cars come with a solution for. Lol
I remember Joe@2JR used to actually keep the spare in the car because it helped keep the rear weighted, since it's helps give an even distribution of weight, at a low point. This was back in the day, 2008. I remember because I bought his spare from him in March 2009 because he finally got the suspension to where he wanted it. He said his rear used to lift some without the weight there.

i have always kept a spare, the little bit of weight loss is not worth me depending on someone else to save me.
I carry my spare but its in my back seat cuz my speaker box is screwed in my trunk. As soon as I get new tires I'll take it back out.....
i have the stock d-nut and a 15" g20 wheel never too cautious haha

I have mine and plan on keeping it there. I live in a small community and im about 20 miles to the closest big town. I really dont want to be stranded waiting in the middle of the desert for a tow truck. Instead of waiting like 60 minutes (sometimes more depending on where youre at) for AAA, id rather change it quick myself and get on my way.

i have 5 stock rims 17" with summer tires and 5 16" focal f-16's with winter tires. matching full size spares. also buying 5 aftermarket rims is a good idea because if you damage one you still have a match and as often as they change rim models you cant get them for long until the makers change them.
yes, i have the spare tire in my car, because i think is very important think to have it when you drive your car every day and long distance. the size is the same with original tires 195/60R-15.

I have two spare tires (not donuts), but one is kept in my garage and the other in my friends garage.
Even if I carried one with me I couldn't get to it easily because of my system :P
14.4 @ 97.9mph just bolted
When I bought my spec, it didn't come with a spare or Jack :/ but I'm about to get two more stockers really cheap, so ill have two spares

This guy is 100% on the money!! Daily drivers need a spare, I added a turbo to negate the effects of running full interior + a spare tire LOL
Besides, I live in AZ my 2 girls (from first wife) live in CA so road trips are common for my spec, the last thing u want is to be 200 miles from home with a flat and no spare.
when you grow up you realize what things are worth it and whats not.

I have my spare and only used it twice out of stupidity(wicked burn out and a nail in a tire that I should of took care of), other that that I would have no use for it. Now with that in mind, I was looking into a full size spare with a normal cheap tire that would be carried on long trips, but I've done long trips already...
Honestly, if your are observint of the road, you can locate the hazards that would require the use of a spare after a said event happens and keeping an eye on your tires for the normal stuff like wear, air pressure, balance, alignment and checking the tires for lodged debris, if you do that you should never need a spare except for that once in a life time freak incident. I'm in no way condning not keeping the spare in the trunk nor not having it in there but I've only used a spare 3 times in my 14-15 yrs of driving, the other one time I wasn't even driving.
Help me re-build my engine, buy my stuffhttp://www.b15u.com/parts-sale/16370...sal-parts.html
Still have mine too. The weight savings isn't going to make the car any faster. If you couldn't beat a car with the spare, you won't be able to beat it without it either.
for me [who always seems to have a new set of tires and wheels a can of flat proof can get you to a gas station
and obviously if i was heading to Alaska tomorrow i might have two spares
but on my racy way to work the total weight removed is close to 75lb and that makes a difference i can feel
[trunk empty and rear seat or about 60 lb without the rear seat removal]
i have to compensate for the 90lb addition of the competition bar
the only time i have had a flat tire since 2004 is when i hit track debris at alabama international raceway
got a flat tire at 110 going thru the lights [with slicks]
normal street
i will be running this in the upcoming spring season with a hybrid four , so weight will be critical
