Thread: Oooh, Sunburst.. Why hath thou foresaken me? (Painting stockers)

Cheesy title aside, the car will be getting a drop in the spring, I'm not sure how much of a drop yet, but it will come! Added into the mix will be some 20mm spacers.

I've looked around the forums and when I see a Sunburst with painted stock rims, they are usually painted matte black, with a few exceptions. I have all the tools I need to paint these bastards but no color has been picked, so I need some help here guys. I'd like to have a color that works well, isn't too out there and that someone can take serious. I know I shot myself in the foot when I picked yellow for a car


I keep my paint clean as f*ck from spring to fall, so the yellow will ALWAYS look good. Here's my options that have come up with friends, brother, girlfriend (who's an excellent artist btw):

1. Keep them stock, re-finish in aluminum alloy colored paint

2. Just go with the matte black and follow every other yellow vehicle owner in the world and have highschool kids sing "Black and Yellow" when I drive by (I like Javio's setup with the yellow lip with added yellow lugs, I think I'd leave out the Nismo decals)

3. Midnight purple. A dark, almost black purple.

4. A very dark metallic blue. Rays "Diamond Blue" aka Magnesium style blue?

5. I have seen some sort of bronze, but I'm not too certain a regular bronze would look good.. Something dark bronze?

6. Photoshop something for me?:

I'm the forum Ray's Magnesium blue advocate. Lol. Been telling guys with yellow specs to get it done every time one of these threads pop up.

Imo, the only color that will work on the yellow is something very dark. So almost all your options are good besides the bronze.

If you keep the SE-R badges you could go with a dark redish color....I don't know how'd you feel about it, but its been something I wanna see(or try) myself. Good luck bro!

a purple would look good/best in my opinion. blue doesnt really match with yellow, bronze would look like doo doo lol white also looks good on yellow

There is a girl locally who paints wheels (did mine) and she did a set in rays magnesium blue. The paints out there somewhere. Lol

Go to an auto paint store they offer spray cans in actual auto paint.
