i just purchased a set of the exel rs gt 17x7 wheels off a buddy of mine. Im trying to figure out what tire size i should put on them, i see people on here with 225 widths, my car came with the stock wheels with 215/45/17s on them, should i go with the 225s or the 215s? tire height?
wider is better, yeah u should be fine. ive ran 235/45/17 on mine. i should have used 235/40, i did have minor rubbing but was tolarable. lol
Yea that's what I figured I wanna go as wide as I can but I don't want wheel rub and I just got the tien htech to go with them I just want them to look flush
If you want good all around performance, 225. 235 are kinda big on 7" wheels, really only worth it if you drag a lot, they create too much roll in the corners

More to come...
225 is the widest "recommended" for a 7" wide rim with a 45 series tire, So 225-45-17 works. ive been running 225-45-17 for about 8 yrs on my spec, after the original 215-45-17 continental tires wore out, I switched to Falken 225-45 (hated them) after that its been Nitto NeoGen 225-45 Love the Nittos!!
235's on the 7" rim will bubble out slightly (truckish looking) Here is a link were you can clearly see 225-45 on my stock 7" wheels.
