So I picked up this 04 Spec a little while back. She’s def seen better days, been sitting in a semi yard for a couple years now totally untouched. I picked her up for less than a grand. I started by gutting the whole interior! This guy must’ve really pissed someone off cause someone took a whole jug of oil and poured it all over the interior! I sourced the lava interior out of a couple boneyards in Nebraska and Iowa. The back seat is in pristine condition but the fronts aren’t as great as I’d like them to be, door panels are pretty good! I know a lot of y’all hate that interior but I dig it! I sprayed all the trim black and replaced the headliner with black fabric. The whole front suspension has been replaced, control arms, CV’s, tie rods, rack, hubs, sway bar links, the struts were replaced with Megan EZII coil overs, all fluids were flushed and replaced. Did the 00-02 front end swap and headed her off to paint today! Been lookin for a JDM engine to swap, she’s got 168k but def wasn’t taken care of so I’d like to make sure it’s solid before I turbo it, maybe rebuild the MT. Has a nismo CAI but it’s dry rotted to shit, so I modded it to a short ram, cause I live in CO where it rains and snows, but I’ll eventually replace it with a different intake since I can’t seem to find the nismo. I got big plans for her when she comes back from paint! Thought about leaving her busted on the outside and makin a sleeper out of her but she needed just a little too much to leave her be! I’ll probably drive around on this engine for a while since compression is ok, but the seals I know are trash after sitting for so long! I don’t have a ton of pics, wish I would’ve been better about doing progression photos but I was too focused on getting things done!

Sunburnt just like my yellow spec. 💛 the 03 conversion its nice. I like the black interior in yellow, but I can't knock the red. Red interior on yellow has been growing on me. Qr20 motors are pretty cheap, I reccomend doing a hg when you get one. It won't hurt and ya might bump up compression a bit to make up for lost hp. If you do go the qr25 route, try not to spend more than 750. Post some pics when sits back from paint!!

I’m hoping to find a QR25 with the 6sp MT together. There’s a couple joints out of CA and NC that get containers weekly 🤞🏻 I really don’t want to rebuild the top half or the MT but I also don’t want to wait forever to do what I want. That link you sent me on the turbo kits is legit! I’m eyeballin some black wheels with a red lip to match the interior, not sure if it’ll be too much. The fella at the tire shop said he’ll throw one on so I can check it out. I think it’ll look slick but not sure. The tires aren’t bad in tread but def flat spotted so might as well get new ones and drop down to a 40 on the aspect ratio maybe lower it a tich more. Hoping she’ll come back next week from the shop. I’ll def post some pics inside and out when she gets back!!

Nisformance does transmission rebuilds, or you can get the synchros from them and have someone local do a rebuild. I had a yellow spec with black wheels and a red lip. It was not the business. I pulled em off my red spec that they had been painted to match when I parted it out.

I settled for motegi trak lites. 4x114.3 are hard to find. If you are looking period correct, you can hit the members rides sections and look in the car of the quarter. Those were the good ol days. There's also a wheel and tire thread that has some decent wheel options. If money's not an issue, go with the 5x114.3 hub swap and your wheel options quadruple.

I went with some Drag wheels and some nitto 215/40/17 had the windows limo tinted. I’ll post some pics soon. She coming together for sure. Gonna drive it through fall then come winter I’ll pull the top end down and start replacing seals. Maybe redo the MT.
