Hi. I've been browsing the forums for a while but I hardly post at all. I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V currently the car has 248000 KM and about 120000 on its second motor. I have the following mods on my car:

- Loctite Butter Flies
- Nismo Replica Header
- 2.25" Ebay Catback w/ 2 Magnaflow Resonators
- 2.5" OBX Dual Tip Muffler
- OBX Light Weight Crank Pulley
- 2JR Solid Delrin Motor Mounts
- JWT BSR Removal Kit

Within the next year I plan to add the following:

- 2JR Plenum
- 2JR Medusa Header
- 2JR 2.5" Catted Mid Pipe
- JWT Pop Charger
- Full Race Flywheel & Bolts
- 2JR Stage 1 Clutch
- 2JR Braided Clutch Line
- Osiris Uprev + Tune done locally

I want to know what my expected WHP would be if anyone has an idea. My goal is 200WHP and 200WTQ but I realize I might not be able to achieve that without High Comp Pistons or Cams. My guess is that I will be between 175-190WHP. If I get 2JR Hi Power Cams with 2JR High Rev Springs and 10.5:1 High Compression pistons how much would labour cost be? And would I make 200WHP? Also can I still run 91 Octane?

My original goal for this car is to go Godspeed turbo with a tial wastegate and tial raptor BOV. If it blows up that's it for this spec and I'll just get another car (undecided). However my gf expressed interest to learn how to drive stick on my car so I decided against the turbo and make this into a reliable daily driver for her for a reasonable period of time, which is why I am sticking with na.

i wish to address the 1st

this was my unquestioned belief
seeing how many engines na, i had destroyed

no way was i going near a turbo

however after living with a 180 hp, 194 ft lb tq motor
for almost a year

my experience and this belief did not match

due to drag racing my motors get harder use than most
so weak spots show quick

an na motor, pushed to the edge, in power output

may not prove to be as reliable as you think,
nor as easy to drive

nor is the turbo as reliable as stock

just speaking from my limited experience of owning only one engine of each kind
[one built qr, one built vq and one built qr-t]

reliability will be lost ether way
imo

and with self turbo install
or cam install

i would call it a draw
imo

this will get you where i was

imo for street only
to be driven by newbie drivers

use JWT S1 cams, with the above
save piston money

use uprev and tune for tq near 200 ft lbs
should end up about like this

this was a very fun car
torquey in a mild way

broad gear range, easy to drive
little shifting required

but push it to the edge
all i gained is 7-8 hp

you get this
at every traffic light

hard to drive
easy to stall
what a combo

next we will talk of low power turbos

Hi Yogi. Thanks for the reply. Are the parts highlighted in red the parts that are equipped in that car when the dyno was done?

Thanks for the detailed response Yogi. I actually just followed some of your older posts and I think I learned what an na QR25DE can do. I think for the same amount of money I will just try and piece together my own turbo kit or if my finances allow it for next summer I will purchase a turbo kit from 2JR as well as a stage 1 clutch and flywheel combo. I think in another thread you mentioned turbo QR's tend be quiet and almost stealthy. I think my gf will appreciate that. I will also appreciate the power I can get from the car.

Target now is 240WHP / 240WTQ.

well thought out

and a perfect intro to the prototype 6 lb boost turbo car

[the 2jr, "2 grand" kit has upped that to 8 lb, i believe]

quiet, smooth and torquey
some lag due to jwt ecu flash
no uprev solution for 02 ecu's

how can more tq and hp, down where you drive
be anything but appreciated

done this way [on a good qr]
cost is virtually the same
as adding cams and pistons to your na build total

i spent 3 days at my 240-260 hp 8-10lb level
wrote that up somewhere on site
totally enjoyable

spent several hours at 12lb boost

the entire rest of the time was spent at 16lb boost
tuned to various levels

estimate, 4500 miles out of 5000

you lasted a month?
amazing discipline

i went thru it in 3 days
and two hours later, the next tune up was also gone

finally the boost control reached it's resting spot
as high as it would go,
16lb
lol

if you have it
you will use it

fix the boost at 8lb and just enjoy it

keep the power at what the stock dd will tolerate
it will be hard

once you have a taste of power..........
well you already know the end of that one
