My 17 y.o. son just HAD to buy a yellow '03 Spec-V, even though he could not drive a manual.
No biggie... that's one of the things on my DAD Qual Card.

He then wanted to sell it, but I said no until his younger brother learned to drive a stick (I love the 6 speed).

After learning a stick, his younger brother convinced him not to sell it...
and went on to want a silver '02 Spec-V.

...

So now I am a "custodian" to TWO Sentra SER Spec-V's

I feel younger than 55 when driving them : )
I feel older than 55 when climbing out of them

Welcome Ken.

Interesting and very funny intro.....lol

I don't know if you know this or not, but there are two main issues with these B15's that can destroy your engine, the stock catalytic converter and the screws that hold on the 'butterfly flaps'.
IF the you have the stock header, get rid of it for an aftermarket one or 'gut' the material out of the converter.
To resolve the butterfly screw issue, loctite the screws.

After you do those thing, you'll have a more reliable 55 year old feeling.....lol

What are your recommendations for good (but cost effective) catalytic converters???
Walker? or other?

How do I get to these infamous butterfly screws?
That's the thing, you don't want a header with a catalytic converter for these cars. There is another converter in the mid pipe, so you're not damaging the atmosphere if that's what you're afraid of.

And it's not like I don't want to help, but there are many threads on how to fix some of the B15 issues on this site, that I don't want to link just one thread.

Search the site for anything you might think of and if you're still confused, ask any one of the knowledgeable folks on here, and you'll be answered in no time.

Welcome, funny intro...I gotta add you might want to cut the chain on the balance shafts and or remove them since the cars are 02 & 03's. The additional quart of oil is the plus side since the QR loves to burn oil.
