I have been working in the industry for some time now, and have had the opportunity to develop a billet crank for the QR25DE.

These will be made by Molnar Technology and sold through Hughes Performance.

They will be built to spec on a fully counterweighted B16 QR Crank.

Only adjustments so far are a longer snout for the crank pulley / damper. Other adjustments can be taken into consideration. There needs to be at least 6 in order to get these built. Lead time is 4 to 6 months. (possibly sooner) i don't have a realistic lead time due to not knowing if this is even going to happen.

I have one person so far committed.

After the group buy is complete, I will send in my crank for scanning. From there its just a matter of time for them to be made and shipped to Hughes Performance which will then send out to each customer.

If we do not reach the full group buy this will not happen.

If we do, after the group buy is complete more cranks can be ordered separately each with their own specs. I mean full open design. Shorter stroke, more journal overlap, realistically endless opportunities

We will need the full amount up front, of $1650

I will then reach out to Molnar Technology again to confirm we are ready.

Payment will be taken at that time through PayPal to Hughes Performance.

DO NOT SEND ANY MONIES NOW.

Discuss, ask questions, etc.

Thanks!

UPDATE

03/01/20201

Pricing is still at $1650 at the time of manufacture.

We will need EIGHT (8) bought to get these made.

Freight will be assessed at the time of completion and charged separately from Hughes Performance in Phoenix, AZ.

Manufacture time is looking at 10 months from pay, and another month or two from then for shipping.

ALSO
These would be made from 4340 billet material, heat treated to increase tensile strength and nitrided for wear resistance. We can make them almost any stroke you want.

So all in all, I'd suspect a year out until it is in your hands.

Confirmed Interested:

Dam this is sweet but Im sorry I cant get it :( Ive already committed to the 2j crank. Its gotta be pretty much bullet proof and able to handle 1000hp right? I like the other customizing options too.

Yeah, I have a 2j crank (I'm assuming knife edged is what you are referring to). Make sure you get it balanced before blueprinting. I have seen some balancing issues. Also the billet option, knife edging will be an option down the line. I'm sure most people won't want their fully counter weighted crank knife edged.

The one guy committed is a circle track dirt racer (I believe) and just destroyed their b16 crank. I think an ati damper probably could have saved them, but this definitely would help as well.

Eh been secretly debating this. I may end up needing it if the 2j knife edged is giving me fitment problems

Last count we were at four and needing two more. I will have to reach out to others to make sure they are still in.

Yeah. I'm sending in my 2j crank to be used as a baseline. Adding a longer about for the balancer. Unless anyone has a stock one, which I doubt. I know peter has one, maybe he would oblige...

If I buy in, will I be the last one and production can start?

Something tells me not to trust the 2J crank and I think thats whats causing my fitment issues.

I think I still have my stock one laying around. Its rusty but its a good template.

Before production. Similar to the ATI Group buy, though this one will be through Hughes Performance, so I will have all the info directly.

Ok. Im still interested.

I have to ask why ur sending a 2J crank. Just wonder if there is question about those from the start. And also looks like a 1 year wait time??

It's all I have/ If someone has one, I'd gladly send em' that one. I'd even pay freight for it to get here and send it back when I am done.

Once it's scanned in, you can literally make any changes to it you want, hence the ability to adjust stroke. The only downside is the first run has to be identical, so we would more than likely stay with a stock stroke. After that, the data would all be in their system, and you can have different strokes made, or adjust changes for a one off.

And yes, a one year wait time.
It was how long it took their last run for a 4 cylinder, I believe it was for a 4g63

I also got to see first hand their work in doing a Barra Crank, which is what led to us here.

Updated first post for Interested parties. Looks like we need two more.

Update me if you don't have monies, (Life happens) and want to be Removed or Added.
