Hello, Looking for some help with my 2006 Nissan 2.5l. Replaced the headgasket for small leak into cylinders. And put the timing gears and chain back on to the same location as I marked it before taking it apart. And as I crank over the engine by hand to make sure no valves are hitting, I see the timing chain goes in and out of having slack between the gears. Is this normal and is because there is no oil pressure pushing the tensioner out since the car is not running? Thanks for any help in advance

Did you deck the head?

You probably need a new chain.

But yes, there is no tension on it either, so it's probably fine
