First unplug the battery's negative terminal:

Then remove the strut tower brace and the mount from the passenger's side (you'll need 2 17mm wrenches/sockets for the strut bar and a 12mm wrench for the mount)
Then un-clip the harness; you can see the little holder in the picture.

There's ONLY 2 10mm bolts holding the ECU box to the car; remove the two bolts and pull the ECU out while twisting counter clock wise on the box.

.

Remove all 10mm bolts from the box.

There's two plastic locks. One on each side.

This is how the ECU looks like once you open the box:

Remove the top 3 10mm bolts to remove the ECU mount from the box, then remove the other 4 10mm bolts from the mount, to remove it from the ECU:

This is how the ECU looks without the mount:

Move the lever to the position shown to remove the ECU from the wiring harness:

Pull the ECU to remove it:

This is how the pins look like on the ECU:

Picture of the harness:

Turn the lever to about 50% and pull up a little bit, and it should come off as shown:

Pop up the 4 safeties and remove the ehm.. whatever that thing is called:

Remove the glove box and panel to get access to the firewall. (inside of car)

This is where the wires are going to be coming to the inside of the car.

Insert the NEO's harness through the ECU box ventilation hole. Wires pointing to the sky and the connector to the floor.

This is the other side of the box, and you can see the ventilation hose where we'll route the NEO harness through:

The NEO Harness connectors are on the other side of the hose now; just route them to the inside of the car.

Pull lightly on the NEO harness from the inside of the car, while being careful not to pull the wires from the ECU box.

Remove the ECU harness from the rest of the box, thus it'll be a LOT easier to work with the very short wires!

Now for the good part:
Please refer to the following pictures for the location of the wires:

2002 & 2003

NEO

2004 - 2006

Thanks to Gurov for above pictures.

Splice the POWER wire as shown:

Now connect the Solid RED NEO wire to the place shown above, then attach the Red w/white stripe wire to the same wire as above, but further away from the ECU, as shown:

Place a drop of solder on each connection and use electrical tape to secure the wires. Do this for all of the following wires as well.

Now for the NEO GROUND wires. VERY IMPORTANT: Brown NEO wire has to be closer to the ECU than the Black NEO wire, and on the same wire, as shown!!!!!

Green NEO wire to RPM wire.

Gray NEO wire to Throttle wire.

Cut the MAF Wire as shown:

Then Connect the NEO yellow wire to the MAF wire on the ECU side!

And the NEO white wire to the other side.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

WE ARE DONE!!!!
now just to wrap things up:
Tape the unused NEO wires to prevent any shorts or whatever.

Place Everything back together.

Just connect the NEO to the Harness and Enjoy.
Make sure the sensor type on the neo is on hot wire 24 in 24 out for 02-03, and 18 in 18 out for 04-06

This is an awesome How-To. Thanks for going into so much detail... but I must ask how you figured the pins out, if the universal NEO diagram lists different ones. I have an 03' Alti with the same motor/ecu so this should be the same for me.. Just glad I came across this before attempting to install based off the NEO wiring diagram.
when u buy a new neo it comes w. stuff for almost all the motors... we have the same pins, but it has like a booklet of how to wire it

Thanks for the quick reply! I think the booklet you're talking about is the NEO wiring diagram, and you can get it off their site: http://www.apexi-usa.com/content/pdf6458.pdf

Nowhere in it is the Sentra Spec, or the Alti.. Or any car with the QR25 for the matter.
theres a diagram on here..idk where they got it from... also, ik with the qg u hadda use the bluebird diagram

I know.. That's what I was wondering though. Like, does this setup run perfectly? I hope so. and hm? the qg?

Edit: Oh! To clarify, I was saying that my 03' Alti should be exactly the same as the 02-03 Spec if I'm not mistaken. Our ECU's pinouts look exactly the same. Anyone on here have the Service Manual listing the ECU pins, and their purpose?
BUMB.... should be stickied... Good write up... Just make sure your looking at the side that the wires are coming off of... or youll f*ck everything up *cough*cough*
-FML- ( reading helps )
Are the wire colors the same on the Neo as they are on SAFC II?

Also, if you install it...will it effect initial tune? Or will the SAFC stay at zero correction until you tune it? I can install it myself, but I'm gonna get a shop to tune it for me. I just want to get most of the labor/work out of the way to save myself some cash at the shop.
Don't know about wire colors, but that should be in the instructions that came with the AFC. Once installed and initialized, the tune will be zeroed out, so you're good to go.
Ehhh... when I int'ed my neo and fixed everything but left the maps blank ( at +/- 0 ) my car would start bog and die... so as far as if it will run, im not sure. I had to set my first 2 presets at +20 to balance out so it would idle.... not sure why. i unpluged the neo harness becuz i don't want my car to BLOW uP... =O any example maps for a 03 spec ? ( CAI, Header. )
u most likely dont have the car setup correctly...it gotta be on 4 up and sensors at 18 or 21 IIRC
Thats a great write up too!! I bookmarked both of these.

So, does anyone know about the wire colors when it comes to SAFC vs Neo?

The funniest part is.... i set it on 21-21-1-1 and it dies super quick... set it at 18-18-1-1 and it fights for air then dies. and that is the guide that i looked at when i first noticed the problem.. on 1-1-1-1 and first to at +20 it idles like a purring cat then gets to 2500 rpm and i play with the throttle and SLAMMY, limp mode... *tear*
Hmm, I keep going back and forth now. Should I install now...or just wait till I know I can get it tuned right after. I may just wait.

In that set up thread, it said that you need to rev it to two different RPMs for setting the knock. One high and one low, does it matter what RPMs you chose??
its really not difficult its just tedious

well you can install it, just dont plug the harness in until your ready to tune... If ur just trying to save money install and leave it unpluged.
If you install and initialize the SAFC correctly, you have nothing to worry about. I left mine zeroed out for months before adjusting fuel with it.
