You need to remove the slugs out of the valve body in your steering rack for it to be the best it can be. That's why you wennies can't turn the wheel when the belt is off, the rack is still pressurized. Heres a link to how I did it on my 92 Integra. in honda stories i think the number is between 2whp - 5whp ... I was going to buy a H22a swapped Integra (dc2) and i remember the guy telling me he kepts the ps out for the extra *w/E* hp gain ,, every little bit counts... idk.. it aint that serious IMO
I'd like to clean-up the engine bay a bit... hide some wires, get rid of some hose and reservoir clutter while I'm in there. Oh and a few free hp are welcome... not to mention I could really do with a daily work-out:drive:
Once the car is moving 5mph u don't notice. And yes to whoever mentioned it, u do get a better "feel" of the car with no ps IMO. Another thing that plays into the difficulty of turning while stopped is the tread pattern on your tires. I had the multi-directional economy tires with no power steering and it made a decent difference when turning the wheel. I mean, I could do it one handed if that clarifies it.
bah took some getting used to in my civic but now i dont even notice it. without powersteering in the bay stuff is alot cleaner since power steering leaks all the god damn time through its banjo fittings
hmm my p/s rack is leaking all over and pissing me off and i was thinking abouut replacing it.. but after reading this.. hmmmm.. my spec isnt my dd anymore.. i have an 02 nissan altima.. soooooo
I was gonna ponder about a routing diagram w/ the 2J alternator relocation kit fully deleting the idler pully that would take its place in the stock location(including making flat surface pullies and replacing it with ribbed pullies).that would be intresting to delete two locations.
What would also be really nice is when pulling the whole PS assembly and accessories out leaving the hard lines to the cooler, it would be easier to set up an engine oilcooler
